    • An electronic signature management system includes a graphic tablet digitizer for signaling position coordinates of a stylus being moved to produce a handwritten signature, a clock circuit of the digitizer defining a fixed interval between successive stylus position measurements, a computer processor electrically interfaced with the tablet and programmed for receiving and storing a multiplicity of the coordinates in sequential order as an electronic signature forming a time history of the stylus movement. The computer is also programmed for verifying the fixed time intervals of the measurements, such as by comparing a ratio of total elapsed time and total number of the measurements with a standard measurement interval, and for comparing the electronic signature with a reference signature, such as by feeding a stored reference signature counterpart and the electronic signature into a cross-correlator for evaluating a degree of correspondence between respective time histories of the electronic signature and the reference signature. The signatures can also be compared visually in a simultaneous display wherein respective pointers follow the signatures orthogonally in response to an operator-controlled slider, with pertinent data corresponding to the pointer positions being displayed. The electronic signature is preferably encrypted using a hash function or message digest of the document as a key. Also disclosed are methods for electronically signing a document, wherein the electronic signature is electronically bound to the document, wherein the electronic signature is encrypted using a key derived from the document and not saved, and methods for decrypting and verifying electronic signatures.

    • A video image processor (100) for processing video images performing the steps of generating video images (103) with a multi-spectral video source (102), converting analog color data contained in the generated video images (103) to digital color data for subsequent signal processing, extracting the digital color data from designated areas of the generated video images and utilizing the extracted digital color data for identifying a color distinguishable from a background color. Thus, the video image processor (100) processes the generated video images and has an intrinsic immunity to the effects of shadows by exploiting multi-spectral color information to distinguish, for example, a passing vehicle from the roadway 116. In a preferred embodiment, the video image processor (100) includes a multi-spectral video source (102) for generating the video images. A color digitizer (104) is employed for converting the analog color data contained in the generated video images to the digital color data for the subsequent signal processing. Then, a digital signal processor (106) is employed to extract the digital color data from the designated areas of the generated video images. Finally, a central processing unit (108) utilizes the extracted digital color data to identify a color distinguishable from the background color.

    • Devices for use with high voltage system components for the safe expulsion of conductive moisture within such components include elbow and T-shaped connector bodies composed of insulating elastomeric bodies covered with conductive elastomer layers. The horizontal legs include all components normally found in such components. The bore of the vertical leg provides a circuitous passage from the horizontal leg to a container or the soil for the collection of such moisture. The circuitous path prevents the moisture from leaving as a stream and the grounded metal cap at the vertical leg extremity discharges any charge carried by the moisture. The circuitous path can be provided by modules each having a curved, linear or combined path such that the total path is longer than the length of the vertical leg. A vacuum access port can provide a means to draw out the moisture if gravity is insufficient to withdraw the moisture from the high voltage system components.
