    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drive device for a vehicle, capable of appropriately supplying oil to engagement members of an engagement device while favorably maintaining the controllability of both the engagement device and a fluid coupling.SOLUTION: The drive device for the vehicle is provided with an input member I which is connected to and driven by an internal combustion engine, an output member which is connected to and drives wheels, a rotating electric machine MG, a fluid coupling, an engagement device C1, and a case 3 which houses these items. The engagement device C1 is provided with: engagement members 33; a pressing member 34 which presses the engagement members 33 into operation; and a pressure difference forming chamber H2 that is formed in such a way that the engagement members 33 are housed therein, that oil is supplied thereto, and that oil pressure is made to act on that side of the pressing member 34 which is opposite to the side on which oil pressure for operation acts. A body housing chamber H4 and the pressure difference forming chamber H2 are formed as mutually independent oil chambers. The drive device for the vehicle is also provided with a coupling supply oil passage L6 for supplying oil to the body housing chamber H4 and a presure difference supply oil passage L2 for supplying oil to the pressure difference forming chamber H2.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a difference between an engine torque and a motor torque when the engagement of a clutch device is completed at the start of an internal combustion engine.SOLUTION: A controller 40 controls at least the operations of an internal combustion engine 20 and a clutch device 30. The controller 40 calculates a predicted engaging time, that is, a time from when the engagement of a frictional material 31 in the clutch device 30 with a plate 32 in the clutch device 30 is started until the engagement of the frictional material 31 with the plate 32 is completed. The controller 40 also calculates a predicted torque rise delay time, that is, a time from when the ignition of fuel led to the internal combustion engine 20 is started until the engine torque reaches the motor torque. Based on the predicted engaging time and the predicted torque rise delay time, the controller 40 calculates a target ignition timing. At the target ignition timing, the controller 40 operates an ignition device of the internal combustion engine 20.

The engagement mechanism controls the size of the gap between the friction material 21 and the plate 22 while the clutch device 20 is opened, based on the opening of an accelerator pedal controlling the output of the internal combustion engine and the speed of the vehicle.
