    • An electrical connector is provided for a flat cable having an upper surface and a lower surface. The connector includes a dielectric housing having an opening for receiving an end of the flat cable in a cable-insertion slot. A plurality of first terminals are mounted in the housing and each has a generally U-shaped configuration defining a base leg and an upper leg. Both legs are fixed in the housing and define a mouth therebetween coincident with the opening in the housing for receiving the end of the flat cable. A flexible contact arm extends from a distal end of the base leg into the mouth and defines a first contact section. A plurality of second terminals are mounted in the housing and each includes a base fixed in the housing and a bifurcated arm flexibly connected to the base and extending toward the opening in the housing. The bifurcated arm includes an upper arm extension and a lower arm extension having a second contact section. An actuator is pivotally mounted on the housing for movement between an open position and a closed position and includes a pivot section engageable with pivot sections of the upper legs of the first terminals and a pressure section facing downwardly toward the cable-insertion slot. The actuator in its open position allows the flat cable to be inserted freely into the slot. The actuator in its closed position causes the pressure section thereof to engage the upper surface of the flat cable and bias the lower surface of the cable against the second contact sections of the second terminals, while the upper arm extensions of the second terminals engage the upper surface of the flat cable and bias the lower surface of the cable against the first contact sections of the first terminals.

    • It is an object of the invention to provide a vehicle alarm signal generation device which can realize the reduction of the consumption of power without unstabilizing the intruder detect operation. The vehicle alarm signal generation device includes a supersonic sensor which comprises a supersonic transmitter and a supersonic receiver. The supersonic transmitter radiates supersonic waves in the interior of a vehicle and the radiated supersonic waves are received by the supersonic receiver. If any person intrudes on the vehicle interior, then there is produced a difference between the frequencies of the radiated and received supersonic waves due to the Doppler effect generated responsive to the movements of the intruder, so that a beat frequency signal corresponding to the frequency difference is included in a signal received by the supersonic receiver. The beat frequency signal is integrated by an integrating circuit and is then converted into a voltage signal. A control circuit is arranged such that it generates an alarm signal when the voltage signal arrives at or goes beyond a reference level. The control circuit drives the supersonic sensor intermittently, invalidates the voltage signal for a given time after it starts the driving of the sensor and, after lapse of the invalidated time of the voltage signal, switches the supersonic sensor into its successive driving condition when the voltage signal reaches or exceeds an auxiliary reference level lower than the reference level.

    • An ON/OFF push button switch is disclosed which includes a housing, a fixed contact fixedly mounted on the housing, and a movable contact adapted to be brought into and out of contact with the fixed contact. An operating portion of the disclosed switch is supported in the housing in which the movable contact is to be movable in a direction towards the fixed contact. A contact connect spring located between the housing and the movable contact is provided to urge the movable contact towards the fixed contact. A contact release spring is located between the housing and the operating portion to urge the operating portion away from the fixed contact with an urging force greater than that of the contact connect spring. A coupling arrangement is provided for releasably coupling the movable contact and the operating portion together with the movable contact being inhibited from being moved away from the operating portion towards the fixed contact. Operation control provision is made 1) for maintaining an ON state where the operating portion approaches the housing to put the movable contact in contact with the fixed contact and for 2) releasing the ON state when the operating portion is further pushed down towards the housing in the ON state.

    • An emergency lock safety belt retractor is designed to facilitate release from an inadvertent lock-up which may occur after full-speed retraction of the seat belt. This undesired lock-up is due to a latch mechanism which locks a belt spool in response to either excessively abrupt onset of extraction, such as may occur in front-end automotive accidents, or excessively abrupt cessation of retraction. This latch mechanism has two separate latches: a simple latch pawl biased away from its latched position and a more complicated lock wheel. The latch pawl is mounted on a rotary drum and in its latched position engages teeth on a stationary drum. The lock wheel is coupled for rotation with the belt spool but is free to move axially through three regimes. The lock wheel is biased toward a first axial regime in which it couples the rotary drum to the belt spool. In the second regime, it couples the belt spool to both the rotary drum and a set of stationary latch teeth, thus locking the belt spool and the rotary drum against rotation in the direction of extraction of the belt. In the third regime, the belt spool and latch teeth remain coupled while the rotary drum is released. The coupling between the lock wheel and the belt spool causes the lock wheel to move from the first to the second to the third regime as the belt is extracted slightly after the latch pawl is engaged.
