    • In twin clutch device used in an engine transmission, there are coaxially and adjacently arranged a first disk clutch and a second disk clutch of a hydraulic pressure type that displace a pressing member in an axial direction with externally supplied hydraulic pressure to exert a predetermined engagement force, and the first disk clutch and the second disk clutch respectively have: an engagement side hydraulic chamber that gives the pressing member a pressing force towards a clutch engagement side; and a pressure compensation hydraulic chamber that gives the pressing member a pressing force toward a clutch disengagement side to compensate a pressure of a returning action thereof. Furthermore in this twin clutch device there are provided: a first actuator that controls hydraulic pressure supply to the engagement side hydraulic pressure chamber of the first disk clutch, and a second actuator that controls hydraulic pressure supply to the engagement side hydraulic chamber of the second disk clutch; and a hydraulic pressure cut-off device that brings the first disk clutch and the second disk clutch into a disengagement state.

    • An electric motorcycle in which the disposition space of a motor is downsized, the number of components is reduced, and the power transmission efficiency is improved. In an electric motorcycle, a swing arm is swingably supported by a vehicle body frame and supports a power generating motor. A driving shaft of the power generating motor and a rear wheel axle of a rear wheel are coupled together. A driving force of the power generating motor is transmitted to the rear wheel. In the electric motorcycle, the driving shaft of the power generating motor is disposed generally in parallel to the rear wheel axle of the rear wheel. A driving gear is provided on the driving shaft. A driving gear is in meshing engagement with a reduction gear provided on the rear wheel axle. The driving gear has a smaller diameter than that of the reduction gear. A driving force of the power generating motor is transmitted to the rear wheel axle through a reduction.

This enables the transmission to be made compact in a direction along the axis of the first and second main shafts.

    • A rotation detecting device for detecting the rotational speed of a gear in a transmission without increasing the width of the gear in the axial direction, using any expensive sensor and not limiting the location of a shift drum. An internal combustion engine includes a crankcase in which a crankshaft and a transmission are accommodated. The transmission includes a plurality of gears for shifting, an input shaft for inputting a rotational drive force from the crankshaft, and an output shaft wherein the rotational drive force is transmitted from the input shaft through the gears and to the output shaft to a drive wheel. The internal combustion engine includes rotation detecting devices for respectively detecting the rotational speeds of the gears. The rotation detecting devices respectively include detecting portions opposed to the gears rotating with the rotation of the input shaft and positioned in the axial direction of the transmission.
