The direction of the flame is varied by regulating the pressure of the air supplied at inlets 10, 11 to the chambers 3, 4. The oil is supplied to the trough through a pipe 12, the supply being regulated so that the oil level is maintained slightly below the lowest holes 8, 9.

[Class 75 (i).] In a device for automatically shutting off the fuel supply to a liquid fuel burner, the load of a piston normally supported by the pressure of the air supplied to the burners, releases by means of a double arm lever a locking pin by which a spring-loaded piston valve controlling the fuel supply is normally held open, when the compressed air supply fails to support the piston. Compressed air enters a cylinder 2 containing the piston 3 by a pipe 1. One end 10 of a double arm lever 9 pivoted at 8 to an arm 7 on the cover 6 of the cylinder 2, lies in the path of a weight 5 on the piston rod 4. The other arm is hooked at 11 to support the locking pin 12, the lower end of which passes through a hole 15 in a piston rod 17 and into a guiding block 13, and prevents the piston valve 18 from closing under the action of a spring 20. The device is manually re-set.

In certain example embodiments, sputtering apparatuses that include one or more substantially vertical, non-conductive shield(s) are provided, with such shield(s) helping to reduce the oblique component of sputter material flux, thereby promoting the growth of more symmetrical crystallites. In certain example embodiments, the difference between the travel direction tensile stress and the cross-coater tensile stress of the sputtered film preferably is less than about 15%, more preferably less than about 10%, and still more preferably less than about 5%.

摘要： Certain example embodiments relate to a sunlight-scattering thin-film coating disposed on a substrate for greenhouse applications. The surface morphology of the coating promotes a better and more uniform light distribution. For instance, at least one thin-film layer disposed on a substrate may be textured so as to create surface features on the order of 0.1-5 microns, with the surface features being sized to cause (a) light having a wavelength of greater than or equal to about 800 nm incident thereon to primarily scatter to angles less than 30 degrees relative to a major surface of the substrate and (b) light having a wavelength of less than or equal to about 700 nm incident thereon to primarily scatter to angles greater than 20 degrees relative to the major surface of the substrate. This arrangement may advantageously direct beneficial light towards plant life while directing parasitic light away from the plant life.

摘要： Certain examples relate to improved solar photovoltaic systems, and/or methods of making the same. Certain improved building-integrated photovoltaic systems may include concentrated photovoltaic skylights having a cylindrical lens array. The skylight may include an insulated glass unit, which may improve the solar heat gain coefficient. The photovoltaic skylight and lens arrays may be used in combination with strip solar cells and lateral displacement tracking systems. Such techniques may advantageously help to reduce cost per watt related, in part, to the potentially reduced amount of semiconductor material to be used for such example embodiments. A photovoltaic skylight may permit diffuse daylight to pass through into an interior of a building so as to provide lighting inside the building, while the strip solar cells absorb the direct sunlight and convert it to electricity.

摘要： A high aperture active matrix liquid crystal display (AMLCD) includes pixel electrodes in respective pixels which overlap adjacent address lines. The color filters are formed on the active substrate in a manner such that the filters also overlap the address lines and function as an insulating layer between the pixel electrodes and address lines in the areas of overlap. Accordingly, line-pixel capacitances are reduced and the resulting AMLCD is easier to manufacture. The total number of process step in manufacturing is reduced, and plate-to-plate (active to passive plate) alignment is much easier and less important.

This may be made possible in certain example embodiments because the ANR coating is optically matched to reduce reflections of light between the first and second substrates.
