摘要： Novel modified and improved beta-diketones and their use in the extraction of copper from aqueous ammoniacal solutions containing copper values, resulting from commercial processes, including, but not limited to, leaching of copper containing ores, such as sulfidic ores, or concentrates resulting from flotation of such sulfidic ores. The novel diketones are those highly sterically hindered, which may be represented by the formula I or II: (see fig. I) (see fig. II) The preferred beta-diketones of Formula ¢II! are selected from the group consisting of neo-alkyl beta-diketones, such as, 1-phenyl-3-neoalkyl-1,3 propanedione in which the neoalkyl group is selected from neohexyl, neoheptyl, neooctyl, neononyl, or neodecyl.

摘要： Copper is extracted from aqueous copper leach solutions wherein the leach solutions have a temperature of at least 30°C. The method comprises contacting the aqueous solution with an extraction reagent of the formula (I) : wherein R is a linear or branched C10-18 alkyl group and R1 is H or CH3. These extraction reagents do not undergo any significant degradation normally encountered with the use of conventional reagents in leach solutions having temperatures equal to or greater than 30°C.

摘要： The disclosed invention concerns a process comprising: (a) providing a pregnant leach solution comprising copper values; (b) contacting the pregnant leach solution with an organic phase comprising a copper extractant at an extraction temperature, T ext, to form a loaded organic phase comprising the metal values; (c) contacting the loaded organic phase with an aqueous stripping solution at a stripping temperature, T strip, to form a copper-enriched stripping solution; wherein the difference in temperature (?T) between the stripping temperature and the extraction temperature according to equation (I): ?T = T strip - T ext is less than or equal to about 10°C. In other increasingly more preferred embodiments of the invention, the difference in temperature (?T) is less than or equal to about 5°C, less than or equal to about 2.5°C, less than or equal to about 0°C, less than or equal to about -5°C, and less than or equal to about -10°C. Also disclosed are economic means to manipulate the extraction, strip, and electrowinning temperatures to achieve these temperature differentials.

摘要： Nickel and/or copper cations can be extracted, from their aqueous solutions also containing chelating agents, by liquid-liquid extraction with an organic solvent containing suitable complexing extractants for the nickel and/or copper. However, with the most efficient such complexing extractants, the phenolic ketoximes and aldoximes, the pH of the aqueous solutions to be extracted should be substantially more alkaline than those known in the prior art for extraction of solutions with about the same amounts of extractable metals but without chelating agents. Apparatus for carrying out the extraction process includes a tank for permanently containing an organic solvent, and a plurality of pumps and valves operable for transferring aqueous feed solution from a source thereof to the organic solvent tank, for mixing therewith, thereafter draining off the raffinate, followed by transferring regenerant solution into the organic solvent tank for regenerating the solvent, followed by draining off the used regenerant solution.
