摘要： Hydrogel polymer blends including precursors and crosslinked forms of the compositions. The blends provide an improved approach to achieve high quality, uniform coatings with better commercial viability than other approaches including copolymerization. Applications include mass spectral analysis of biomolecular analytes such as proteins. Dextran and acrylamide systems are preferred. Benzophenone groups can be used as photocrosslinking groups. Photoinitiators are not needed. Functionalities which can selectively bind to biomolecular analytes are included.

摘要： For certain mixed mode resins having anionic character, a ligand is joined to a solid support via a linkage that includes a mercapto-, ether- or amino-containing moiety. A suitable ligand comprises an aromatic group, a heteroaromatic group, or a heterocyclic group, optionally fused, that is sulfate-, sulfonate-, phosphonate- or phosphate-substituted and that is linked to such a moiety. These resins possess an anionic character under conditions prescribed for their use. Separation of a biological substance, such as a peptide or protein, can be accomplished with a resin of this type via a change in the pH of eluants, thereby effecting adsorption and desorption.

Further, the invention provides a system comprising the probe of the present invention and a gas phase ion spectrometer comprising an energy source that directs light to the probe surface to desorb an analyte and a detector in communication with the probe surface that detects the desorbed analyte. The invention also provides a method for desorbing an analyte from a probe surface, the method comprising exposing the binding functionalities to a sample containing an analyte under conditions to allow binding between the analyte and the binding functionalities, and desorbing the analyte from the probe by gas phase ion spectrometry.
