    • An image determining apparatus for determining a dot matrix image or a character/line picture on the basis of a halftone image signal obtained by scanning an original image including a dot matrix image or a character/line picture. In order to perform such image determination, first, a pixel block corresponding to a two-dimensional region of a predetermined area is extracted from the half-tone image signal, the average pixel density of the extracted pixel block is calculated, and the respective pixels of the pixel block are binarized using the calculated average pixel density as a density threshold. The binarized pixel block is accessed sequentially in the main scan and subscan directions to check the length and frequency of occurrance of runs of a particular color pixel. If the length and frequency of occurrence of these runs are in a predetermined relationship, it is determined that the pixel block concerned is a dot matrix image or a character/line picture.

    • The present invention concerns a coordinate input device for entering coordinate values by superposing on a display device (LCD or CRT). The device is comprised of a coordinate input section wherein a first conductive sheet for x-coordinate detection provided with electrodes on a pair of end edges and a second conductive sheet for y-coordinate detection provided with electrodes on a pair of end edges are superposed through a spacer so that respective electrodes intersect orthogonally. In a low power consumption mode of operation; a predetermined voltage is applied between one of the electrodes of the first conductive sheet and one of electrodes of the second conductive sheet for detecting a variation of the voltage. When the voltage varies the device switches, a predetermined voltage is applied between one electrode x1 of the first conductive sheet and one electrode y2 of the second conductive sheet. When the voltage does not vary, no current flows between the pair of electrodes x1, x2 (or y1, y2) of either of the first conductive sheet or the second conductive sheet, therefore the low power consumption is maintained.

    • An image processor in which input image data is sampled at a sampling circuit at a constant rate corresponding to P times the rate of the input image data and then subjected at a decimating circuit 14 to a decimating/reducing operation with a magnification of 1/Q to obtain image data having a magnification of P/Q in a horizontal scanning direction.
