    • An object is to improve the cycle performance by improving the reactivity between lithium and a negative electrode active material in the case where an alloy-based material such as silicon is used as the negative electrode active material. A method of manufacturing a lithium secondary battery including a positive electrode including a positive electrode active material into/from which lithium can be inserted/extracted, a negative electrode including a negative electrode active material into/from which lithium can be inserted/extracted, and an electrolyte solution is provided. The method includes the steps of electrochemically inserting lithium into the negative electrode with use of a counter electrode before the lithium secondary battery is assembled, electrochemically extracting part of the lithium inserted into the negative electrode after the insertion, and assembling the lithium secondary after the extraction.

    • A paper feeding device includes: a reference guide surface that contacts a lateral end portion of a sheet-shaped medium along a guide path for transporting the medium; a tapered guide surface that is inclined outward from the reference guide surface toward an upstream side of a transport direction and contacts the lateral end portion of the medium; a paper feeding roller that rotates to transport the medium in a direction parallel to the reference guide surface while the paper feeding roller contacts a surface of the medium; and a medium cassette that stores the medium. The medium cassette stores the medium so as to be inclined with respect to the reference guide surface so that a rear end of the lateral end portion of the stored medium at a side of the reference guide surface is positioned outside an imaginary extension surface of the reference guide surface.

    • There is disclosed a multimedia communications terminal capable of quickly connecting with the other party with less burden on the exchange station. The terminal has a phone book memory for storing a phone book database and image data. One record consists of a phone book memory number, a phone number, a name, an encrypting flag, a terminal kind number, a send/receive YES/NO flag, a sender information notice flag, and an address at which image data is stored. The terminal further includes a main controller including a CPU, a ROM, and a RAM. The main controller controls all the portions of the terminal to realize the operation of a portable videophone. When an outgoing call is made, the phone book memory is referenced. The outgoing call is made in connection procedures adapted for the kind of the other party.

    • A knocking detecting sensor for detecting knocking generated in an internal combustion engine includes a vibration detecting element, a terminal, a terminal holder, a casing and a sealing member. The vibration detecting element detects vibrations due to knocking. The terminal having a first and a second ends, the first end being connected to the vibration detecting element so as to take out an output therefrom. The terminal holder integrated with the terminal so as to hold it. The casing houses the vibration detecting element and the terminal holder, the casing having a terminal through-hole for externally protruding the second end of the terminal. The sealing member is arranged so as to surround the terminal between said terminal holder and the casing to prevent fluid from leaking into the inside of the casing from the terminal through-hole. Such a sensor structure assures airtightness of the casing and easiness of wiring the detecting element to the terminal.
