摘要： Using a silicon-containing carbon-based composite material represented by the compositional formula: SiOxCyHz. In this formula, “x” is from 0.8 to 1.7, “y” is from 1.4 to 7.5, and “z” is from 0.3 to 1.3. The composite material is preferably obtained by: obtaining a cured product by crosslinking (A) a crosslinkable group-containing organic compound, and (B) a silicon-containing compound capable of crosslinking the crosslinkable group-containing organic compound, and heat treating the obtained cured product. The composite material of the present invention has high reversible capacity and stable charge and discharge cycle characteristics, and has high initial charge and discharge efficiency. Therefore, the composite material of the present invention is suitable for an electrode of an electricity storage device, particularly of a lithium or lithium-ion secondary battery.

摘要： This invention relates to an electrode active material, an electrode containing the active material, and an electricity storage device including the electrode. The electrode active material comprises a silicon-containing carbon-based composite material obtained by preparing a uniform phase comprising at least (A) a crosslinkable composition that includes a silicon-containing compound having a crosslinkable group, and (B) a liquid or melt that does not participate in the crosslinking reaction of the crosslinkable composition; then crosslinking the component (A), causing phase-separation from the component (B) for obtaining silicon-containing crosslinked particles or a dispersion wherein the silicon-containing crosslinked particles are dispersed in the component (B); and then baking the silicon-containing crosslinked particles or the dispersion in an inert gas or in a vacuum at 300 to 1,500° C. The electrode active material is particularly suitable as an electrode of a lithium secondary battery, displays high reversible capacity and stable charge and discharge cycle characteristics, and is characterized by having little electrical potential loss when lithium is discharged.

The lithium transition metal silicate of the present invention has a high lithium occlusion and release efficiency per unit amount of a transition metal. A secondary battery in which the cost is low, stability and safety are high, and superior charge and discharge characteristics are exhibited can be provided.

The electrode active material has high reversible capacity and stable charge and discharge cycle characteristics, has little electrical potential loss when lithium is discharged, and furthermore, can be manufactured via a simple manufacturing process. Therefore, an electrode active material that is particularly suitable for an electrode of a lithium secondary battery can be provided, and an electricity storage device having an electrode comprising the electrode active material can also be provided.

摘要： The present invention relates to a porous silicon-containing carbon-based composite material produced by carbonizing both (1) a silicon metal or a silicon-containing compound and (2) an organic compound containing no silicon atoms and having a softening point or a melting point, in an inert gas or in a vacuum at a temperature ranging from 300 to 1,500° C. The porous silicon-containing carbon-based composite material of the present invention can be used as an electrode of a battery. Thereby, a battery which has an increased reversible capacity and stable charge and discharge cycle characteristics, and has a reduced loss of potential at the time of discharging lithium can be produced with a simple production process.

摘要： An electrode composition comprises a silicon powder comprising non-crystalline and crystalline silicon, where the crystalline silicon is present in the silicon powder at a concentration of no more than about 20 wt. %. An electrode for an electrochemical cell comprises an electrochemically active material comprising non-crystalline silicon and crystalline silicon, where the non-crystalline silicon and the crystalline silicon are present prior to cycling of the electrode. A method of controlling the crystallinity of a silicon powder includes heating a reactor to a temperature of no more than 650° C. and flowing a feed gas comprising silane and a carrier gas into the reactor while maintaining an internal reactor pressure of about 2 atm or less. The silane decomposes to form a silicon powder having a controlled crystallinity and comprising non-crystalline silicon.
