Lectern desks.-A tray-like support for use in connection with artists' easels, drawing-office desks, and for like purposes consists of a clamplike pivot support for an arm on which the traylike support is pivotally secured. In the form shown in Fig. 4, a flange-like bracket 1, adapted to be secured by screws &c. to an easel or desk, canies an arm 2, the outer end of which has a pivot joint 9 carrying jaws 13 between which the tray is secured. The bracket 1 has lugs 6, between which the head 5 of the arm 2 may be gripped by tightening the pivot bolt 7 by means of the nut 8. The pivot 9 is secured in the socket 10 by means of a pin 12 engaging in a groove in the pin. The socket 10 is split longitudinally, and is tightened on the pin 9 by screwing forward the sleeve 21 on to the tapering end 23 of the socket 10. The tray is preferably a flat board with raised edges, and may have at one end an aperture adapted to receive the neck of an ink bottle, which is secured by a pivoted catch-piece.

    • An apparatus for pipeline inspection, the apparatus having a longitudinal axis, is provided. The apparatus comprises: a plurality of ultrasonic sensor units arranged for inspection of a pipe wall, each ultrasonic sensor unit comprising an array of ultrasonic sensors, wherein the plurality of ultrasonic sensor units defines two or more groups of ultrasonic sensor units, wherein the groups of ultrasonic sensor units are axially offset from one another with respect to the longitudinal axis of the apparatus, the ultrasonic sensor units in each group being spaced circumferentially from one another, and wherein the ultrasonic sensor units are arranged out of phase, to provide inspection coverage for the circumferential spacing between the sensor units in the groups of ultrasonic sensor units so that the combined output from the groups of sensor units provides 360 degrees of inspection coverage.

    • A self-propelled crawler/tractor apparatus is disclosed for traveling through a tubular pipeline while conducting pipeline wall inspection operations and/or towing gear for cleaning, maintenance and the like. The crawler/tractor apparatus is propelled by a plurality of radially positioned motorized traction wheels. Each motorized traction wheel includes a brushless DC electric motor along with clutch, gearbox and other mechanical drive components integrated into a compact self-contained motorized wheel assembly which is sealed and filled with an electrically non-conductive lubricating/cooling oil. The seal integrity at each wheel assembly is maintained against oil leakage and debris ingress by a pressure-balancing mechanism which matches internal oil pressure to the exterior ambient pressure present in the pipeline. The electric motor drive for each traction wheel is individually controlled via an onboard computer to provide a wide range of torque and wheel speeds.
