    • A packer apparatus with a circulating port. A housing of the packer has inflation passages, circulating passages, treating fluid passages, and equalizing passages defined therein. In a straddle packer embodiment, upper and lower packers are mounted on the housing on opposite sides of an outlet of the treating fluid passage. A circulation valve with a sliding differential pressure actuated valve sleeve is disposed below the packers. An inner mandrel is slidably received in the central opening of the housing. The mandrel has a mandrel bore and has upper inflation and circulating ports, lower inflation ports, upper and lower equalizing ports, a treating port and lower circulating ports, all of which communicate with the mandrel bore. The valve sleeve has a valve port. A lug and endless J-slot is operably associated with the housing and mandrel for controlling a telescoping position of the mandrel relative to the housing in response to reciprocation without rotation of the mandrel relative to the housing. The mandrel may also be used to lock the valve sleeve in a closed position. The lug and J-slot define a repeatable sequence of inflating (or deflating) position, intermediate position, circulating position, treating position, equalizing position, and ready position wherein the tool is ready to return to the original inflating position on the next telescoping stroke of the mandrel within the housing.

    • A positive circulating valve with a retrievable standing valve therein. The valve is used with a packer positioned therebelow. The circulating valve comprises a housing with a mandrel slidably disposed therebetween. A J-slot controls movement between open and closed positions. When in the open position, mandrel ports in the mandrel are aligned with body ports in the housing so that bypassing and circulating may be carried out. The standing valve prevents fluid flow downwardly through the tool string below the circulating valve when the circulating valve is in the open position. When the circulating valve is in a closed position, the mandrel ports are in communication with a central opening through the housing, allowing fluid to be pumped downwardly through the circulating valve. The standing valve may be removed so that the circulating valve has a substantially unrestricted flow path therethrough for high flow rate fracturing jobs and the like.

    • The invention is directed to a coiled tubing swivel for rotatably connecting a first conduit to a second conduit. The swivel comprises a swivel body having a cylindrical receptacle and a flowpath that communicates between the receptacle and the first conduit, a tubular mandrel having a first end that is received within the receptacle and a second end which communicates with the second conduit, and a bearing assembly positioned between the receptacle and the mandrel. The bearing assembly includes a central axis, a cylindrical outer sleeve having an inner surface and a number of annular inner grooves which are formed on the inner surface coaxially with the central axis, and a cylindrical inner sleeve having an outer surface and a number of annular outer grooves which are formed on the outer surface coaxially with the central axis. The outer grooves align with respective inner grooves to define a number of bearing races, and a plurality of balls are disposed in the bearing races to rotatably secure the inner sleeve to the outer sleeve. Moreover, each bearing race comprises a diameter which is smaller than the diameter of the adjacent bearing race that is closer to the first end of the mandrel. In addition, the swivel comprises a packing for sealing the bearing assembly from the flowpath in the swivel body.
