SOLUTION: An outer sleeve 340 includes an elongated body having a proximal end and an opposite distal end. The distal end advances to an adjacent vertebra. The body includes a first hollow tube shape member 348 for providing protected access to the disc space and the adjacent vertebra and a second hollow tube shape member having a radius and inside allowing a vertebral implant to pass through, respectively. Each of the first and second tube hollow tube shape members has a central longitudinal axis. The central longitudinal axes are spaced from each other at a distance greater than the sum of the radius of the first hollow tube shape member and the radius of the second hollow tube shape member. 摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an instrumentation for performing spinal surgery including discectomy, interbody fusion and rigid internal fixation of the spine, from the lateral side of the spine. SOLUTION: This instrumentation includes: a guide pin 30, a distractor 100 driven into the disc for spacing apart and realigning the adjacent bertebrae; an extended outer sleeve, an inner sleeve, an insert depth adjustable drill, and an implant driver. The distractor 100 further functions as an alignment rod for inserting the extended outer sleeve. The extended outer sleeve is a hollow tubular member capable of maintaining the spacing and alignment of two adjacent vertebrae and defines a protected space through which subsequent instruments which may include, but are not limited to a drill and a diameter reducing inner sleeve may be passed, as well as a spinal implant. The remainder of the surgical procedure consisting of the removal of spinal material across the disc, fusion, and rigid internal stabilization via the implant may all be performed via the closed space within the extended outer sleeve. 摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a threaded interspinal fusion implant which is structured so that a normal angle relation between neighboring vertebrae is restored. SOLUTION: An interbody fusion device 10 includes a load support body 11 defining a hollow interior or chamber 15 for receiving a bone forming material. In another embodiment, the tapered body is solid and formed of a porous biocompatible material having sufficient structural integrity to maintain the intradiscal space and normal curvature. The material is preferably a porous tantalum composite having fully interconnected pores to facilitate complete bone tissue ingrowth into the implant. A cap is also provided to block the opening of hollow fusion devices. The cap includes an occlusion body and an elongated anchor. In some embodiments the anchor includes a lip which is engageable to openings 24 in the body wall. Tools are also provided for manipulating caps for interbody fusion devices. 摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an intervertebral disk arthroplasty device having fatigue strength with a biocompatible material, eliminating or reducing the load of a facet joint and applicable to 90%.
SOLUTION: The disk arthroplasty device 110 is disposed in place of an intervertebral disk. The device is implantable into a resected disk space and is provided with a ball member 146 and a socket member 126 and shaped to provide lateral bending and backward extension of up to about 5° and forward flexion of up to about 15°. Metal insert cups are provided and attached to the surface of the device to assume convex shape along one axis to conform to the natural contours of the top and bottom vertebra surfaces. Metal insert cups provide tensile support to a structure and provide for the attachment of additional structures for retaining the device in position after implantation into the disk space.
