摘要： The present invention relates to the identification of Xenotropic murine leukemia virus (XMRV) nucleic acid by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) analysis (e.g., real time PCR (RT/PCR); nested RT/PCR using Tth DNA polymerase and Hot start polymerase) and the uses thereof. In particular, the invention provides methods for the detection, and in particular early detection, of XMRV in RNA isolated from samples (e.g., urine samples; expressed prostate secretion (EPS)) of prostate cancer patients and normal individuals.

The stretchable book cover is formed from a pliable material and has an outer panel portion for covering a front cover, a back cover, and a spine portion of a book; four folded-in edge panel portions, which include a first side edge panel, a second side edge panel, a top edge panel, and a bottom edge panel; and at least one fabric strap for connecting the top edge panel to said bottom edge panel, forming a pair of apertures, permitting insertion of the front and back covers of the book into the cover such that the book cover does not have any seams coincident with any of edges of the book.

摘要： An apparatus for imaging an animal includes a first mounting surface, a bed sized to support the animal and releasably secured to or integral with the first mounting surface. The apparatus also includes a plurality of straps, each having a first end in a fixed position relative to the bed and a second end for tightening around a limb of the animal. A method for in-vivo imaging of an animal includes providing an animal that has limbs, providing a first mounting surface, and providing a bed removably secured to or integral with the mounting surface and sized to support the animal as well as being coupled to a plurality of straps. The method also includes placing the animal on the bed between the plurality of straps and tightening at least two of the plurality of straps around at least two of the limbs such that the animal is substantially secured in place relative to the bed.

摘要： Adenylate-uridylate-rich (ARE) elements present in the 3' untranslated region (UTR) of gene and mRNA sequences are disclosed. THE ARE motif comprises a sequence encompassed by: SEQ ID NO: 1 or 2, with further limitations. Computational methods of identifying genes or coding sequences in a database which comprise ARE elements are disclosed. The computational methods can be used for gene discovery, and sequence analysis. Methods of identifying, isolating and amplyfying ARE-element-associated polynucleotides using PCR, RT-PCR, hybridization, etc. are disclosed. PCR primers, oligonucleotide arrays, polynucleotide libraries, computer programs, and computer systems relating to ARE elements are disclosed.
