    • A clutch assembly for automotive vehicles as one application of the rotational torque transmission mechanism comprises an inertia member divided to a driving plate connected to an engine crank shaft and a flywheel connected to a clutch cover. Between the driving plate and the flywheel is provided dampers and a torque limiting clutch which will permit the slidable rotation of the driving plate relative to the flywheel. Thus, any vigorous torque variation on the crank shaft particularly at the low speed of the engine may be absorbed or diminished to thereby avoid the objectionable torque transmission to a clutch output member.

    • A power transmitting mechanism is provided in which a driving member rotatingly transmitting power and a driven member receiving the transmitted power are arranged concentrically for rotation relative to each other. A torsion member is accommodated between the driving member and the driven member. A first hysteresis mechanism including at least one friction member is provided on the inner peripheral side of a spacing accommodating the torsion mechanism. The friction member of the first hysteresis mechanism may be split into a plurality of portions each passing through, with clearance, a respective hole or cut-out in the driven member. A second hysteresis mechanism including at least one friction member is arranged outside the space accommodating the torsion mechanism. The second hysteresis mechanism generates hysteresis separate from that generated by the first hysteresis mechanism. The torsion member may be plural torsion springs with differing spring constants. A flywheel is connected to the driven member and a clutch mechanism is either abutted against or substantially spaced apart from the flywheel.

    • A device for automatically changing the speed ratio between a drive shaft and a driven shaft, including a pair of pulleys mounted on the drive and driven shafts and each having two opposing flanges of truncated cone shape, the pulleys being linked by a V-belt and one pulley being loaded with centrifugally displaceable weights for the speed-change operation.One of the flanges of each pulley is provided with a cover plate having a flat surface portion perpendicular to the rotational axis in face-to-face relation with a truncated-conical surface of the flange. The roller is held in rolling contact with the truncated-conical surface portion of the flange at the opposite end portions and with the flat surface portion of the cover plate in the middle portion to preclude sliding resistance.
