    • A process and device for assembling a connector is provided, by which the production efficiency can be improved by preventing the problem of insertion error from occurring in a step of terminal insertion into a connector housing in the manufacturing process of the wiring harness by using an automatic assembly machine or in a step of the operation by the human hands. The process includes the steps of: provisionally locking the spacer in the connector housing; inserting a jig rod into the connector housing before inserting the terminal into the connector housing, the jig rod being for releasing the locking of the spacer which is completely locked in the connector housing; pulling the jig rod out from the connector housing; and inserting the terminal into the connector housing.

    • A press-contact connector 10 has a first member 20 which accommodates a plurality of terminals 21 having press-contact blades 21a and a second member 30 which is attached to the first member 20 and holds a plurality of wires 11 in an aligned state. The second member 30 has a plurality of retaining portions 31 capable of retaining the wires 11 respectively, formed in an approximate U shape and arranged in parallel to one another. The retaining portion 31 has claw portions 33 which are provided at inner walls 32 to lock the wire 11 in such a way as to contact with a bottom portion 31a of the retaining portion 31, and lances 34 which are provided at serial directional ends of each retaining portion 31 to urge the wire 11 in the direction of the opening of the retaining portion 31 in a cross section. Since each wire 11 is held bent by the cooperation of the claw portions 33 with the lances 34, compatibility with automation is possible and the wires 11 can be held sufficiently.

    • A terminal support has a first main body. Wall plates are arrayed on the first main body in a first direction so as to define a first space between each of adjacent ones of the wall plates. The first space is adapted to receive a terminal having a blade portion and a sheathed electric wire. The blade portion extends in the first direction, and no clearance is formed between both ends in the first direction of the terminal and the adjacent ones of the wall plates. Chamfered portions are formed on both sides in the first direction of a tip end of each of the wall plates. A punch has a second main body. Press members are arrayed on the second main body in the first direction so as to define a second space between each of adjacent one of the press members. Each of the press members is inserted into the first space to press the sheathed electric wire against the blade portion of the terminal while each of the wall plates is inserted into the second space, when the terminal support and the punch are approached in a second direction orthogonal to the first direction.

    • A press-contacting connector includes a connector housing, a wire holder and an assisting plate. The connector housing has a plurality of press-contacting terminals and a holder fitting portion in which a plurality of press-contacting blades of the press-contacting terminals are provided. The wire holder is fitted into the holder fitting portion of the connector housing, and holding a plurality of wires. The assisting plate is attached to the wire holder so as to press-hold press-contacting portions of the wires to the wire holder.     • A terminal anchoring lance 20 includes a first anchoring portion 21 and a second anchoring potion 22 which are arranged apart from each other in a direction of inserting a female terminal 30. The female terminal 30 includes a first engagement portion 33 corresponding to the first anchoring portion and a second engagement portion 36 corresponding to the second anchoring portion. The first anchoring portion is formed as a tip of the terminal anchoring lance, and the second anchoring portion is formed as a projection. A pair of the second anchoring portions are formed on both sides 20c of the terminal anchoring lance. In this configuration, the size and weight of a connector and the production cost of the connector are reduced. The number of components is also reduced without lowering the holding force of a female connector.
