    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a walking-support device which helps the elderly or those with walking challenging or with weakened walking ability comfortably even on upward slopes in principle by using self-propelled equipment which is manually operated and is connected to the body of a user via a handle so that the user can walk at any desired speed while being pushed or drawn by the self-propelled equipment, and which device can be carried easily when it is not in use. SOLUTION: This walking-support device allows the self-propelled equipment 5 to be arbitrarily moved forward or backward or stopped by conveying the rotational motion of a rotary shaft 12 incorporated in a drive source motor 3 to wheels 13 after slowdown, and by controlling the shaft to rotate in the normal or reverse direction or to stop based on commands from a manual control unit 7. The self-propelled equipment 5, being connected through a handle 8 with the user 28 to be supported in order to convey the travelling power of the self-propelled equipment 5 to the user 28, helps him/her walk on an upward slope 23 with pushing or drawing power.     • A light emitting device having an oxide transparent electrode layer as an emission drive electrode, and designed so that damage possibly occurs during bonding of electrode wires to the bonding pads is less influential to a light emitting layer portion is disclosed. The light emitting device has the light emitting layer portion composed of a compound semiconductor and has a double heterostructure in which a first-conductivity-type cladding layer, an active layer and a second-conductivity-type cladding layer are stacked in this order; and the light emitting layer portion is applied with emission drive voltage through an oxide transparent electrode layer formed so as to cover the main surface of the second-conductivity-type cladding layer. A bonding pad composed of a metal is disposed on the oxide transparent electrode layer, and to the bonding pad an electrode wire for current supply is bonded. Between the second-conductivity cladding layer and the oxide transparent electrode layer, a cushion layer composed of a compound semiconductor having a dopant concentration lower than that of the second-conductivity-type cladding layer is disposed.
