    • A connector for joining frame members of a window assembly is provided. Each frame member has a channel to receive the connector. The connector comprises a pair of spaced longitudinal members and a pair of transverse members attached to the longitudinal members to form a frame. The frame has a front wall and a rear wall. The connector has at least one flexible finger extending from one of the longitudinal members towards the other longitudinal member, wherein a clearance exists between a free end of the finger and the other longitudinal member.

    • An integrated sash lock and tilt latch assembly is mounted in a sash window having a top rail, a base, and two stiles connected together at their extremities. The integrated assembly contains a sash lock mechanism, a tilt latch mechanism, and a connector. The sash lock mechanism includes an actuator movable to adjust the assembly among a locked position, an unlocked position, and a tiltable position, and a rotor coupled to the actuator. The tilt latch mechanism includes a tilt latch housing supported by the top rail and a latch bolt slidably supported by the tilt latch housing and moveable between an extended position and a retracted position. At least a portion of the tilt latch housing has a generally circular cross-section. The connector has a first end of operably coupled to the latch bolt and a second end operably coupled to the sash lock mechanism.

    • A brake assembly for locking a vertical or horizontal slidable sash window or door within a track of a frame is disclosed. The track has an elongated base and a pair of spaced apart, opposed sidewalls extending perpendicular from the base. Each sidewall has an inner shoulder spaced from and parallel to the base. The assembly has a slider body having a central opening extending from a front face of the body to a rear face of the body. The slider body has a side opening in each side of the slider body and being in communication with the central opening. A pair of brake members are provided wherein one brake member is slidably positioned within a respective one of the side openings. A cam has a rear face and a front face, and is adapted to receive a pivot member mounted on either the sash window or door. The cam is positioned in the central opening and is adapted to be rotatable within the opening by the pivot member. The cam, slider body and brake members include cooperative structure for converting rotary motion of the cam into radial movement of the brake members through the side openings and axial movement of the cam and slider body to lock the brake assembly within the track.

    • A brake assembly (24) locks a slidable sash window (14) within a track (16) of a frame (12). The track (16) has a pair of spaced apart, opposed sidewalls (20), the brake assembly (24) includes a slider body (28) adapted for slidable motion within the track (16). The slider body (28) has a central opening (34) extending from a front face (36) to a rear face (38) and has a side opening (46) adjacent to the central opening (34). The assembly also includes a brake member (30) comprising a spring having a braking surface (58), and mounted within the slider body (28) such that the braking surface (58) is adapted for reciprocal lateral movement through the side opening (46). The assembly (24) further includes a cam (32) positioned in the central opening (34), wherein the slider body (28) receives and retains the brake member (30) and the cam (32) is rotatable in the central opening (34) for laterally biasing the braking surface (58) for movement through the side opening (46) wherein the braking surface (58) is adapted to frictionally engage one of the opposed side walls (20).
