Measured quantities, delivering.-Relates to apparatus for drawing off aerated liquids, in which the seating of a valve, which controls the supply of the liquid, is withdrawn from the valve to open it, the same movement also closing the snifting- openings for the escape of gas from the liquid. Fig. 2 shows the invention in connection with an intermediate measuring-vessel G, the discharge from which is controlled by a separate valve J. The cylinder M, which contains the main valve Q and its seating, is raised and lowered by a screw E. The valve J can slide for a short distance on the end of the hollow spindle H, being pressed down by a spring. The snifting is controlled by a valve P, which is raised to a certain point by the spring V. The handle C being turned, the valve J is first closed ; then the valve P is closed, and finally the valve Q is opened, as shown. The liquid then flows into the intermediate vessel through the openings R, S in the hollow spindle H, until an equilibrium of pressure is established. The reversal of the handle C then successively closes the valve Q, opens the valve P,_and opens the valve J. Fig. 3 shows another modification similar to that shown in Fig. 2. except that it is operated by a togglelink 0, Fig. 4, to depress the cylinder E, and that there is no separate snifting valve, but the snifting opening M is closed by the lower part of the cylinder E.
