Accordingly, the tank 3 is always filled with hot water and the required quantity of hot water is automatically supplied without the necessity of using any motive power.

Each fraction is examined on its absorption and NGF activity and the active fractions are dialyzed with a buffer solution and centrifuged. The resultant supernatant is controlled in pH and subjected to column chromatography again, eluted under salt concentration gredient. The fractions showing NGF activity are concentrated, further subjected to column chromatography to isolate and purify the substance with NGF activity.
