    • Disclosed are a towel adapted to be worn by the user and a method of making such towel. A single sheet of absorbent and pliant fabric material is cut such as to have a top end and a bottom end opposed to the top end and a first side and a second side opposed to the first side. A stiffening member is disposed against the fabric towel material. The top end is folded over to form a top fold. The first side edge is folded over and against the stiffening member to form a first rear towel face. The second side edge is folded over and against the first rear towel face. The stiffening member is encapsulated in the fabric towel material by securing the various towel faces together underneath the stiffening member and securing together the tops of the various folded towel material.

    • A method, and a reactor, for hydroprocessing a hydrocarbon feed stream through multistage fixed catalyst beds contained within a single onstream reactor vessel, with a separate catalyst addition and a separate catalyst withdrawal system for the upper or top essentially fixed catalyst bed. Catalyst particles are withdrawn from the essentially fixed catalyst bed by slurrying or liquifying the catalyst particles in a container disposed within the reactor. A method for retrofitting a reactor assembly having two or more fixed catalyst beds in order to place a guard catalyst bed in the upper or top portion of the reactor assembly.

    • This invention makes possible substantially continuous flow of uniformly distributed hydrogen and hydrocarbon liquid across a densely packed catalyst bed to fill substantially the entire volume of a reactor vessel by introducing the fluids as alternate annular rings of gas and liquid (i.e. a mixture of liquid hydrocarbon and a hydrogen-containing gas) at a rate insufficient to levitate or ebullate the catalyst bed. Catalyst are selected by density, shape and size at a design feed rate of liquids and gas to prevent ebullation of the packed bed at the design feed rates. The liquid and gas components of the hydrocarbon feed flow into the catalyst bed from concentric annular rings that are coaxial with the catalyst bed. At the desired hydrocarbon flow rate, such catalyst bed continually flows in a plug-like manner downwardly through the reactor vessel. Catalyst is removed on a periodic or semicontinuous basis by laminarly flowing catalyst particles in a liquid stream out of the bottom of the catalyst bed. Intake for such flow is out of direct contact with the stream of gas and hydrocarbon liquid flowing through the catalyst bed. The removed catalyst is introduced into a high pressure vessel for classification into high-activity less dense catalytic particulates and low-activity more dense catalytic particulates. The high-activity less dense catalytic particulates are separated in the high pressure vessel from the low-activity more dense catalytic particulates, and are subsequently mixed with fresh catalyst and returned to the reactor vessel.

    • A process and apparatus of preventing the plugging of the discharge and/or suction line of an internal recycle pump utilized in an expanded bed reactor of the type having a partition transversely extending through the lower portion thereof and defining a plurality of substantially regularly and uniformly disposed perforations and communicating with a reaction zone above the partition and plenum chamber therebelow. The reaction zone contains a mass of particulate catalyst contact matter supported by the partition and placed in randon motion above the partition by a pressurized mixture of a liquid carbon containing material and a hydrogen rich gas flow passing through the perforations from the plenum chamber and by the internal recycle pump having a pump suction line generally concentrically disposed with respect to the reactor and extending through the partition into the reaction zone. The pump has a discharge communicating with the plenum chamber and is situated in the bottom of the reactor and has an exterior surface which extends into the atmosphere. The pump functionally recycles the liquid carbon containing material from the reaction zone through the recycle pump discharge into the plenum chamber and through the perforations in the partition. The improvement comprises extending a first catalyst withdrawal line from the pump suction line into the atmosphere to withdraw catalyst matter and prevent plugging with particulate catalyst contact matter of the recycle pump discharge and/or the suction line.
