摘要： PURPOSE:To produce a superconductor having high critical current density and critical temp. and causing no abnormal phenomenon at the grain boundary by sintering dehydrated powder starting material in a dry atmosphere and heat treating the sintered body in a dry oxygen atmosphere. CONSTITUTION:Powdery starting material consisting of oxides carbonates etc., of Ln (Ln is Y, Sc, La, lanthanide or a mixture of such elements), Ba and Cu is dehydrated by heating to several hundred deg.C in vacuum, molded in a dry atmosphere having water content and sintered at 850-950 deg.C in the dry atmosphere. The sintered body is heat treated in a dry oxygen atmosphere having water content to obtain an Ln-Ba-Cu-O type superconductor.

摘要： PURPOSE:To obtain a compound superconductor capable of being cooled with inexpensive and readily handleable liquid N2, consisting of Yb and/or Lu, Ba, Cu and O. CONSTITUTION:The compound superconductor of this invention consists of the above-mentioned elements and has the composition ratio of Yb and/or Lu and Ba of 30:70-70:30, preferably 40:60-55/45. The superconductor is produced by the following method. Namely, powder of Yb2O3 and/or Lu2O3 is blended with powder of BaCO3 and powder of CuO in a given ratio. Then the mixture is calcined in air at 800-900 deg.C, ground, cold-pressed and further sintered in air at 800-940 deg.C. Consequently, the aimed compound superconductor of oxide type having a critical temperature Tc higher than liquid N2 temperature (77k) is obtained.

Being a ceramic superconductive material, the superconductive material has electric, magnetic and mechanical properties different from those of existing metallic superconductive materials. Consequently, when the superconductive material is used as a Josephson element or superconductive quantum coherent material, it increases diversity thereof.

The superconductive material may mostly have a composition close to (Ba2Tm)Cu3O6.5. Since the superconductive material has high critical temperature and can be cooled with liquid N2, precious and expensive cooling materials such as He or Ne are not required at all. Since the material is stable even if it is heated to a high temperature about 950 deg.C, the material has high degree of freedom in production as a superconductive wire material or electronic element material.
