    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a coating material which is suitable for the automobile industry and exhibits high hardness and high abrasion resistance and which is repaired and reprocessed easily and, in particular, polished easily in the manufacture thereof. SOLUTION: This method is for producing coating films from coating formulations which are radically polymerizable under thermal initiation and comprises at least the following steps: (a) coating of a substrate with the coating formulation; (b) thermally initiated curing of the coating formulation; (c)elimination of quality deficiencies in the cured coating material; and (d) completely curing the coating material by UV exposure.
