SOLUTION: The moisture exchange module has a bundle of moisture-permeable hollow fiber membranes through which a first gas flow stream can flow. The bundle of hollow fiber membranes is arranged in a housing, the housing being provided with line elements for supplying and discharging a second gas stream, which flows around the hollow fiber membranes. Between the bundle of hollow fiber membranes and the housing, there is at least one flow space, which extends over at least approximately the entire length of that region of the bundle hollow fiber membranes through which the first gas stream can flow. At least one flow space surrounds only a small part of the circumference of the bundle of hollow fiber membranes, so that ultimately, a moisture exchange operated in cross-current mode is formed. This can preferably be used for the humidification of feed air for fuel cell systems.

SOLUTION: This moisture exchange module has the bundle of moisture-permeable hollow fiber membranes and at least one line element for supplying a gas stream that flows through the hollow fibers in an inner flow. The at least one line element opens out into an inflow region which is of at least approximately the same cross section as the bundle of hollow fiber membranes. According to the present invention, the at least one line element opens out into the flow region at an angle of from 60° to 120° with respect to the longitudinal axis of the bundle of hollow fiber membranes without the longitudinal axes of the one line element and of the bundle of hollow fiber membranes intersecting one another. An annular diverter means for diverting the gas flow are provided between the cross section of the line elements through which gas can flow and the inflow region. The diverter means are arranged in such a way that an annular gap is formed, which annular gap is connected to the at least one line element and, on its side remote from the bundle of hollow fiber membranes, is connected to the inflow region.

SOLUTION: The moisture exchange module has the bundle of moisture-permeable hollow fibre membranes equipped with a supply line for supplying a gas stream that flows through the hollow fibre membranes in an inner flow. Starting from a cross section of a line element, the cross section through which the gas stream can flow opens out into a cross section of the bundle of hollow fibre membranes. According to the present invention, a separater means for separating liquid particles from the gas flow is provided in a region between the supply line and the bundle of hollow fibre membranes. The separater means is designed to be a gutter shape and positioned so that the gas stream is guided with centrifugal force assisting motion of liquid particles moving to the means. The swirl unit (12) is linear in cross section. It is star-shaped in cross section, with at least three points. Enlargement of the inlet cross section is continuous or stepped. The unit is mounted in the feed line facing the hollow fibers. It is made of sheet metal. A fluid droplet separator is located ahead of the hollow fiber membrane. The droplet separator comprises a groove (13) in a wall of the feed line and/or near to the enlargement in cross section. The moisture exchange module (7) moistens air supplied to the fuel cell system. The air is supplied by a compressor (6) along the outer surfaces of the hollow fiber membranes in the fuel cell system (1), whilst a moist gas from one or more fuel cells (2) passes through the hollow fiber membranes.
