The control signal transmitting method, in a video player having an integrated circuit (IC) for processing video/audio signals and a microprocessor generating control signals to control the IC, has the steps of mapping serial data corresponding to possible control states of the video/audio signal processing IC, and storing the mapped data in a lookup table, reading serial data corresponding to a control state of the video/audio signal processing IC requested by the microprocessor, from the lookup table; and transmitting the serial data to the video/audio signal processing IC, being synchronized to a clock signal. Since in the control signal transmitting and receiving method the number of pins of an A/V IC decreases greatly compared to the conventional parallel transmitting and receiving method, the cost of manufacturing A/V ICs can be reduced to strengthen the competitiveness of products.

    • In a method for designing an envelope detecting circuit for a video signal processing integrated circuit (IC), the number of peripheral components of the video signal processing IC is minimized by incorporating, into the video signal processing IC, a circuit device for detecting the envelope of an FM video signal and for controlling the envelope level. According to the IC designing method, the number of components can be reduced by designing all circuit elements constituting a circuit which detects the envelope of the FM video signal and which controls envelope level so that they are incorporated into the video signal processing IC at the time of designing the video signal processing IC. As a result, cost is reduced and, since mode control signal lines are reduced, the corresponding terminals of the microprocessor can be used for another purpose, thereby increasing the operating efficiency of the microprocessor.

    • Outernet DNS searching units are included in a host, a DNS server, a router where a DNS server is registered, and a router where a DNS server is not registered, allowing Internet-enabled terminals to automatically search for a DNS server in an outernet. The host creates a DNS search message and transmits it to a subnet to which the host belongs so as to receive a response message. If no response message is received from the subnet (i.e., a DNS server is not connected to the subnet), the DNS search message is transmitted to an outernet to which the host does not belong, to which a DNS server is connected. Further, when a DNS server does not respond to a DNS search message from a host, a hop limit is increased to resend the DNS search message, thereby preventing waste of network bandwidth and easily detecting the closest DNS server.

The optical pick-up device can achieve an enhancement in the efficiency of utilizing a main beam, namely, a zero-order diffracted beam, an improvement in optical characteristics, and an improvement in the axial distance between the light source and the monitor PD.
