A mounting for a roller-skate wheel which is formed with a circular recess at each side connected by a coaxial through bore, comprises ball-bearing members each consisting of an inner cone with a sleeve extension extending through an outer cup which are held against separation by a sheet-metal housing, such that the housings may fit into the recesses in the wheel and the spacing of the bearing members determined by the engagement of their extensions with one another or a distance-piece. Each wheel 1 is formed with a through bore 2 which is enlarged at each end to form a recess 3 to receive a ball-bearing. Each bearing comprises an outer cup 4 and an inner cone 5 with balls 6 therebetween and each cone has an axial sleeve 7 projecting through a central hole in the bottom of the cup. The sleeves 7 are of such length that they abut when the bearings are correctly adjusted, though they may be of reduced length to enable a spacing collar to be inserted between them. A sheet-metal housing 8, which holds the cup 4 and cone 5 in engagement, is provided with projections 9 to grip the material of the wheel to prevent rotation of the housing within the recess.

    • Silencing equipment is provided for an air-cooling assembly in a large off-road vehicle having wheels, traction motors for the wheels that operate in a motoring mode to propel the vehicle and a power generating dynamic braking mode, resistor grids for dissipating the dynamic braking power, and a blower for moving cooling air past the grids to cool them. The silencing equipment may include a resistor grid housing 24 and at least one upper inlet 22 for passing cooling air to the interior of the housing. The inlet includes noise-absorbing material. A conduit 28 is provided for directing cooling air from the upper inlet through a transition chamber to reach the blower and at least one resistor grid in the housing. The conduit is lined with noise-absorbing material. A removable cover 30 is provided for the conduit for accessing the air blower in the housing through the transition chamber, whereby servicing of the blower may be performed without removal of the entire upper inlet. In another aspect, the silencing equipment includes at least one outlet 31 for exhausting air from the resistor grid housing. This outlet includes a plurality of exhaust vanes positioned at an angle relative to a stream of exhaust air to impart a deflection to the exhaust air into a desired direction. The plurality of exhaust vanes includes noise-adsorbing material whereby this one outlet combines air deflection and silencing in a single device.

    • The invention pertains to housings and enclosures for assemblies of electrochemical cells such as used in consumer electronic devices. A system of structural elements having constant cross-section along at least one axis is provided to construct protective housings for electrochemical cell assemblies. Where cell assemblies include sensitive circuit elements such as circuit boards the fabricated housings include cover portions to reduce the chance of impact or contact damage to the circuit elements. By designing structural elements having open and constant cross-sections, a family of housing components may be fabricated from a single structural element by altering a length. Different configuration housings may also be constructed by rearranging the housing components or introducing additional interconnecting components. By incorporating a unified interconnecting element into each component, interchangeability is increased. In this way, the number of distinct housings that can be constructed from a limited number of distinct structural elements is increased. The invention includes cell assemblies incorporating such housing components. The invention provides inexpensive and easy methods of forming enclosures for a variety of cell assemblies by avoiding multiple toolings for unique parts.

    • A wireless keyless entry system can lock, unlock automotive doors, trunks, etc. without the use of an ignition key and can disarm an onboard anti-theft alarm system or in the alterative can trigger the alarm as a deterrent. The novelty of this invention relates to the fact that the owner of the vehicle is unaware of an alarm state triggered at the vehicle if the owner is out of eye sight and or ‘ear shot’ of the vehicle. The new wireless and keyless entry system would include an RF transmitter in the vehicle that would transmit a unique code when the vehicle is in an alarm state. The unique signal would be received by a portable receiver/controller carried by the owner/operator of the vehicle, triggering a visible light; an audible alarm, pulsing or steady; and/or a vibrator alerting the owner to investigate the automotive alarm emanating from the vehicle.

    • A medication dispensing apparatus with a spring-driven locking feature includes a drive member movable in a distal direction within a housing, and a fluid container with a piston that is advanceable by the drive member (60) when such drive member is moved distally by a driving means. The apparatus includes a latching element (180) having a skid (190) that is slidable along a surface of the drive member as the drive member passes distally during advancement. The drive member is arranged with the skid so as to maintain a latching lip of the latching element against a spring force in a first position free of the driving means during dose preparing and injecting prior to a final dose administration. The skid-engaging surface shifts distally of the skid such that the skid passes beyond a proximal end of that surface upon administration of a final dose, whereby the latching lip is urged by the spring force from the first position to a second position to physically lock the driving means to prevent further dose preparing and injecting.
