    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a side door of a vehicle which prevents deformation of a door panel during side collision.SOLUTION: (1) A side door 10 of a vehicle includes a sheet 20 with dilatant characteristics pasted on an inner face of a door outer panel 11. The dilatant sheet 20 is immediately hardened at the time of side collision, thereby preventing deformation of the door panel. There is no need to make a mold, so that the sheet 20 is applicable even if a vehicle model is changed, and thereby reducing cost. Moreover, weight increase is suppressed compared with addition of a metal reinforcement material. (2) The dilatant sheet 20 is pasted on a whole surface of the inner face of the outer panel 11. Even when a vehicle collides with a tree, deformation can be prevented. (3) The dilatant sheet 20 is pasted on a smaller region than the whole surface of the inner face of the door outer panel 11 in a region including a part at a height where a bumper of the other vehicle collides. Compared with (2), weight is decreased, and cost reduction is achievable.

In this constitution, the dilatant sheet 48 is rapidly hardened if a shock of an airbag 56 is applied to the dilatant sheet 48 when the airbag 56 is inflated and deployed. Thus, any deformation (upwardly inflating deformation) of the pair of airbag doors 38 can be suppressed, and the stress can be concentrated to the tear part 46 between the pair of airbag doors 38. As a result, the tear part 46 can be rapidly cleaved, and deployment of the airbag 56 can be expedited.
