摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To miniaturize the device and to reduce crosstalk by making wavelength different between irradiation light for a near-field light generating probe and a cantilever displacement detecting light and thereby allowing common use between the irradiation optical system and the cantilever displacement optical system. SOLUTION: Long wavelength light 30 and short wavelength light 29 are generated each by a separate semiconductor laser, and converged with a common objective lens 27. The long wavelength laser beam 30 is converged on a micro-opening 17 formed at the tip end of a cantilever 15, with a part of the beam turning to near-field light 18 from the micro-opening 17, and is used for recording and reproduction of signals for a medium. The short wavelength laser beam 29, having a different wavelength, is converged on the rear side face of the cantilever 15, with the converging position separated from that of the laser beam 30. In this case, a pyramid projection formed at the tip end of the cantilever 15 is set at a proper height in accordance with the wavelength of the laser beams 30, 29. Consequently, crosstalk of both laser beams is suppressed, improving the ratio of the signal of the light 18 to a noise, and enhancing the detection accuracy of the cantilever displacement of the short wavelength laser beam.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording medium and a recording device which enable an extra-high density recording and have high reliability by setting the track length or the track pitch to about 1.5 μm or shorter even in use of a rotating mechanism system which has conventionally been used. SOLUTION: A guide groove 1 to control the position where a recording head runs is formed, and further, recording bits 2 are formed in the guide groove 1 for the purpose of increasing the recording density. Recording bits 2 have a tadpole-shaped structure when being viewed from above. The width Ws of these recording bits 2 is made wider than the width Wg of the guide groove 1. Because of this structure, an AFW probe as the recording head runs in the guide groove 1 without going out of the guide groove 1, and the probe 6 enters the inside by recording bits 2 formed in this groove and detects recording bits 2.

This reflected light is converged by a lens 2, and is converted into a current signal by a photodetector 8, and then the current signal is amplified and converted into a voltage signal by a current/voltage converting amplifier 14. The ratio of the square of the amplitude of a term of the frequency ωto that of the amplitude of frequency 2ωcomponent is evaluated by using a computing element 10, and a two-dimensional actuator 6 is adjusted by a control circuit 11 so as to make this ratio constant.

摘要： PURPOSE: To provide a surface potential microscope in which the mutual interference is eliminated between an interatomic force detection signal and an electrostatic force detection signal. CONSTITUTION: Displacement of a cantilever 1 is detected by a displacement gauge 2. Output from the gauge 2 is passed through a low-pass filter 4 and amplified by an amplifier 5 and then delivered to a piezoelectric oscillator 6 thus constituting an oscillation circuit oscillating at the first resonance frequency of the cantilever. Output from the oscillation circuit is fed to a frequency detector 7 which delivers an output to a controller 8. The controller 8 controls the distance between a sample and a probe so that the oscillation frequency is kept constant. A cantilever displacement signal is amplified and fed to a lock-in amplifier 14 in order to detect the amplitude of a component having same frequency as an AC voltage signal being applied to the probe. Finally, a DC voltage to be applied to the probe is controlled by means of controller 15 such that the amplitude thus detected goes zero.
