摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture an inductive thin film magnetic head having a track width of 0.5 μm or lower in high yield in order to enhance the recording density of a magnetic disk device. SOLUTION: In this inductive thin film magnetic head, an upper magnetic core is formed by a frame plating method using a frame formed by a KrF or ArF excimer stepper, and thus the film thickness of the upper magnetic core is set equal to 3.0 μm or higher, and the width of the lower part of the upper magnetic core immediately after plating is set equal to 0.5 μm or lower. Then, by using at least the tip of the upper magnetic core as a mask, the area of a lower magnetic core uncovered with the upper magnetic core in the vicinity of a floating surface is eliminated by ion milling or the like (trimming). Since the width of the tip of the upper magnetic core is set equal to 0.5 μm or lower immediately after plating, the time and the number of trimming are reduced from a lateral direction to adjust a recording track width, that is, variance in recording widths is reduced.

摘要： PURPOSE:To allow highly efficient starting of fusion reaction by increasing the presence ratio of isotope of Li in a negative pole material, which can store hydrogen internally, over a specific %. CONSTITUTION:A 0.01mol sulfuric acid heavy water solution is employed as an ion conductor 2 containing heavy water ions 12 while a copper-lithium alloy is employed as a negative electrode material 1 thus performing electrolysis. Consequently, negative ions 5 migrate toward a positive pole whereas positive ions 4 migrate toward the negative electrode 1. Heavy water ions 12 are taken into the negative electrode 1 as the positive ions 4. Temperature is then measured using a thermocouple 51 fixed to the negative electrode 1 through boron nitride 52. Temperature begins to rise upon elapse of one hour after start of electrolysis by about 5 deg.C. The temperature rises continuously for a while even if current supply is interrupted. The concentration of H in the negative electrode 1 can be increased when an Li0.1Ni0.1V0.8 alloy containing 10% of Li is coated with Pb by 100mu, for example.

A silicon oxide film 5 is etched thereby forming square through windows 8. Square prisms 9 are formed to a silicon substrate 6 with using the oxide film 5 as a mask. A cantilever material such as silicon nitride or the like is vapor deposited to form a cantilever film 10, on which a photoresist pattern for the cantilever is formed by a photolithography technique. The cantilever is formed by reactive ion etching with using the photoresist pattern as a mask. The silicon substrate part 6 and silicon oxide film 5 are removed at the end. The minute cantilever with a probe 1' is thus formed.

SOLUTION: When a coil of the thin-film magnetic head is formed, after a lower layer coil 16 is formed first, alumina or an inorganic compound 17 containing alumina is formed, and after that, a groove for forming an upper layer coil is formed by an RIE. At this time, the lower layer coil becomes a prevention film of the loading effect at the RIE to enable the uniform etching. The Cu plating is carried out on this groove, and the flattening process (CMP) is carried out to form the upper layer coil 22, then the subject two layers coil is completed. The heat generated from the coil is efficiently radiated to the side of a substrate by enveloping it with alumina having good heat conductivity or the inorganic compound containing alumina. Also, the lower layer coil performs a part as the etching stopper since it has a selection ratio to the RIE of alumina or an inorganic compound containing alumina, therefore, the upper layer coil groove is stably formed, resultantly the coil film thickness can be stably formed, and the shortening of the magnetic path length is attained.
