    • PURPOSE:To obtain a high a quality thermosensitive recording head in terms of cost, and capable of high image quality recording free from color irregularity by increasing the width of a common electrode formed between a substrate and a heat insulation layer and reducing the resistance value of the common electrode through the decreasing of the resistance value of the common electrode. CONSTITUTION:A metallic membrane is provided on an alumina substrate 1 and this membrane is used as a common electrode 10. On the common electrode 10, a heat insulation layer 2 of heat resistant resin is provided on one side of the substrate 1 except and end 1A side. On the heat insulation layer, a plurality of thermal resistors 4 are aligned at a prearranged interval. In addition, drive-side electrodes 6 and common-side electrodes 8 are provided on the upper surface of the thermal resistor 4 to supply electric power to the thermal resistor 4. Further, the plurality of the common-side electrodes 8 are connected electrically to the common electrode 10 on the end 1A side of the substrate 1. The upper surfaces of the thermal resistors 4, the drive-side electrodes 6 and the common-side electrodes 8 are covered with a protection layer 12.

    • PURPOSE:To contrive higher productivity, by providing an insulating layer comprising a heat-resistant resin on a substrate, providing resistance heat generating elements and wiring electrodes thereon, then separating the insulating layer from the substrate to obtain a film, and fitting the film to a cooling plate. CONSTITUTION:A polyimide varnish or the like is applied uniformly to a substrate 9 formed of alumina, a glass or the like and having high stiffness, favorable flatness and excellent heat resistance, and is fired to provide an insulating layer 4. A resistor layer 5 and an electrode 3 are provided on the insulating layer 4 by sputtering, electroless plating or the like, followed by etching to provide predetermined patterns of resistance heat generating elements 2 and electrodes 3. A protective layer 6 of a ceramic material or the like is provided by a thin film process, and the insulating layer 4 is separated from the substrate 9 to obtain a film 1. The film 1 is fitted to a cooling plate 7 so that the heat generating elements 2 provided for the electrodes 3 are located on an end face of the cooling plate 7, and a semiconductor device 8 for controlling energization is fitted to the plate 7. Thus, higher accuracy can be achieved, and productivity can be enhanced.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent the lowering in yield, by a method wherein a glaze built-up part is formed by a thick film production process in the same way as that for a partial glaze and thereafter, a thin film production process is started. CONSTITUTION:A partial glaze 2 and a glaze built-up part 3 are formed on a ceramic substrate 1 by printing glass paste to be baked. In that case, though it is necessary that the glaze built-up part 3 is made higher than the partial glaze 2, they are formed by making a printing number of times of the glaze built-up part 3 more than that of the partial glaze 2. Thereafter, a thermal resistor 4, and a conductor 5 are formed by sputtering. Then, they are coated by photo resist 6, and exposure is carried out by photomask 7. Then, develop ment and etching are executed, and a pattern is formed. Since the height of the glaze built-up part 3 is made higher than that of the partial glaze 2, the photomask 7 is in contact with the glaze built-up part 3, and does not contact with the partial glaze 2. Since the partial glaze and the glaze built-up part are formed in this way before the thin film production process, the yield deterio ration can be prevented.

    • PURPOSE:To allow the peripheral edge parts of adjacent developed color dots to be overlapped with each other, by a method wherein each of resistors is formed so as to be made narrow from both ends thereof toward the center thereof and the wide parts in the vicinity of both ends of adjacent resistors are partially positioned within a sub-scanning region having a predetermined width. CONSTITUTION:A large number of resistors 1 are arranged in a zigzag pattern in a main scanning direction and adjacent resistors are arranged so that the wide parts 1a of one resistor are allowed to coincide with the narrow parts 1c being the central parts of the other resistor and the narrow parts 1c being the central parts of one resistor are allowed to coincide with the wide parts 1b of the other resistor and one of the wide parts of each resistor enters into each narrow part 1c so as to exceed the line connecting the apexes of the wide parts 1a, 1b of both resistors. Therefore, a large number of the heat generating resistors are arranged to a thermal recording head so that the parts S, S' of both wide parts 1a, 1b are positioned in a sub-scanning area having a width (a). When input energy is increased, dots overlap each other at the peripheral parts thereof and an undeveloped color area is eliminated. As a result, the number of the white stripes or broken characters of an image is reduced to a large extent.

    • PURPOSE:To attain to enhance the stability and heat resistance of a resistor, by providing a heat resistant layer comprising insulating ceramic having high heat stability between a resistor and a heat resistant resin. CONSTITUTION:A heat insulating layer 2 comprising a heat resistant resin is provided on a substrate 1. A heat resistant layer 3 comprising insulating ceramic is provided on this heat insulating layer 2, and a conductor 5 and a protective layer 6 are further povided on a resistor 4. As the heat resistant resin used in the heat insulating layer 2, a material having high dissociation temp. and excellent heat resistance such as aromatic polyamide, polyimide, polysulfone or polyphenylene oxide is advantageous. By providing this heat resistant layer comprising ceramic, the diffusion of elements such as oxygen, nitrogen, carbon, hydrogen or sulfur constituting the heat insulating layer 2 to the resistor is prevented and the stability of a resistance value is enhanced.
