An input strand guide pulley (60) guides an input strand to be twisted into a path in which it will successively engage the pulleys (48, 50, 52, 54 and 56) and a strand exit guide pulley (62) guides the strand from that path into an exit path along the axis X-X. Rotary structure (12) is driven through a drive shaft (16) and the pulleys (48, 50, 52, 54 and 56) are rotated by gearing (32).

Die Andrückeinrichtung (6) hat einen Andrückstempel (49) mit einer die Fadendrückzone (4) definierenden Andrückfläche, welche zur Verminderung der Reibleistung geschmiert wird, insbesondere durch einen aerodynamischen Schmierfilm oder durch ein zwischen Andrückfläche und Riemen (11, 12) aufgebautes aerostatisches Druckfluidpolster. Die Andrückeinrichtung (6) ist mit einer Halterung ortsfest an der Falschzwirnkräuselmaschine befestigt. Ihr Andrückstempel (49) ist in der Fadenandrückzone (4) gegenüber der Rückseite des Riemens oder Bandlaufs (11, 12) mechanisch nachsiellbar, vorzugsweise durch einen Kraftgeber federnd nachführbar. Bevorzugt dient hierzu eine Zylinder-Kolben-Einheit, deren den Andrückstempel (49) tragender Kolben in Längsrichtung durch Kanal (50) durchbrochen ist, wobei durch den Kolber, einerseits eine Anpreßkraft ausgeübt wird und andererseits aus dem Druckraum Schmierluft zur Andrückfläche geliefert wird.

The receptacle is eccentrically mounted to permit selective positioning of the biasing force with respect to the yarn path of travel. The discs are mounted on pivotal rocking arms whereby the ratio of yarn twist to yarn speed may be adjusted, and an eccentrically mounted pin provides closely controlled adjustability for the arms and thus the twist ratio. The apparatus may be readily configured to provide either S or Z twist, and the drive system may be disengaged while in either the S or Z twist configuration to terminate rotation of the discs and thereby facilitate yarn thread-up.

    • A yarn false twisting apparatus is disclosed which includes a pair of twist imparting discs, with the discs being mounted for rotation so that portions of the disc surfaces are disposed in opposing, substantially non-contacting relationship and define a twisting zone therebetween. The discs rotate in a common rotational direction, and a yarn is continuously advanced through the twisting zone in a direction parallel to a line extending perpendicularly between the axes of rotation of the two discs. In one embodiment, one of the discs is relatively thin and flexible, and there is further provided a pressure applying member which acts to locally bias the flexible disc toward the other disc at the twisting zone. Preferably, the two discs are mounted for movement toward and away from each other in a direction parallel to a line extending perpendicularly between the axes of rotation, and the pressure applying member is mounted for movement in a direction perpendicular to the direction of relative movement between the two discs, to thereby permit the ratio of twist insertion to yarn speed to be adjusted.

    • A yarn false twisting apparatus and method is provided which permits ready conversation from S to Z twist, or vice versa. The apparatus comprises a pair of friction discs which are rotatably mounted on a common carrier plate, and the discs are rotated in opposite directions by a drive system which includes a whorl mounted to each supporting shaft, and an endless drive belt having a run which engages opposite sides of the two whorls. The carrier plate is designed to permit the respective positions of the two discs to be reversed, and the direction of rotation of each disc to be reversed, to thereby convert from S to Z twist, or vice versa. In other embodiments, conversion between S and Z twist may be effected by the axial displacement of the two discs, or by the use of the two pressure applying members which define two separate twisting zones and which are alternately actuated.

    • A drive system for a yarn false twisting apparatus is disclosed which may be readily converted to produce either S or Z twist, and which insures adequate tension of the drive belt. The apparatus comprises a pair of twist imparting members, and a drive belt system for rotating the twist imparting members which comprises a drive whorl positioned to engage a tangential belt, and a series of pulleys having a drive belt entrained thereabout for rotatably interconnecting the whorl and twist imparting members. The whorl and one of the pulleys are mounted coaxially on a whorl support member, which may be selectively positioned in one of two operating positions to place the whorl on opposite sides of the tangential belt. Another of the pulleys is an idler pulley, which is adjustably mounted for movement in a direction perpendicular to the yarn path of travel and so as to permit maintenance of an adequate tension on the drive belt.
