    • The invention relates to a frictional twisting device for texturing synthetic filament yarns, comprising several adjacent, parallel, rotating shafts with at least one friction disk disposed on each shaft. The friction disks are offset against each other and are axially arranged on the shafts at a mutual distance, whereby the intersecting circumferential arcs of said disks, when seen from an axial overhead position, form a common overlap area in which an overlapping circle tangent to the inside of the circumferential arc can be placed, whereby the thread running through the frictional twisting device forms a type of helix with an angle of inclination alpha ranging from 38 DEG to 41 DEG . The invention also relates to a method for determining the individual parameters of the frictional twisting device.

    • A yarn false twisting apparatus is disclosed which comprises two rotating twist imparting members, with a pressure applying member comprising a cylinder-piston assembly positioned to bias one member toward the other at the twisting zone. The apparatus includes an improved yarn thread-up capability which avoids breakage when the yarn is initially twisted, and which includes a pressurized air supply system for biasing the piston of the pressure applying member into operative contact with the adjacent twist imparting member, and control means for substantially reducing the pressure during yarn thread-up to thereby limit the nipping force applied to the yarn. In one embodiment, the air supply system includes a reservoir for cushioning the application of the pressure on the piston to thereby avoid the rapid application of a nipping force on the newly threaded yarn.

    • A yarn false twisting apparatus is disclosed which comprises a pair of cooperating friction discs which define a twisting zone between opposed friction surfaces thereof. One of the discs is composed of a thin flexible material, and a pressure applying member is mounted adjacent the back side of the flexible disc for biasing the disc toward the other disc locally at the twisting zone to firmly engage the yarn passing therethrough. The discs are movable with respect to the pressure applying member such that the ratio of twist insertion to yarn speed may be varied. In one illustrated embodiment, the discs are mounted so as to permit selective placement on opposite sides of the pressure applying member and reversal of their direction of rotation, and such that either S twist or Z twist may be imparted, without changing the direction or location of the yarn advance.
