摘要： An improved rare probability connection call registration method using a PTI field information for an asynchronous transfer mode switching system which is capable of registering a rare probability connection code (RPCC) by using PTI field information, which includes the steps of setting a predetermined threshold value, checking payload type indication field information within each cell header which is currently being serviced, and determining whether the cell experienced congestion, continuously checking other cells when the cell did not experience congestion, increasing the congestion experienced counter value with respect to the service when the cell experienced congestion, and comparing the congestion experienced counter value with a predetermined threshold value within a previously designated unit time, clearing the congestion experienced counter value when the congestion experienced counter value is less than a predetermined threshold value within the previously designated unit time, increasing the congestion experienced counter value when the congestion experienced counter value exceeds the predetermined threshold value within a previously designated unit time, and comparing the congestion counter value with a predetermined threshold value within the previously designated unit time.

摘要： An improved rare probability connection call registration method which utilizes automatic congestion level (ACL) information within a release message for an asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) switching system. The method includes the steps of setting a predetermined threshold value, receiving a call releasing message, checking automatic congestion level (ACL) information in the call release message, and determining whether an ACL information is set. When the ACL information is not set continuous checks are made, and the method continues by increasing the count value when the ACL information is set, and it is determined whether the value of the ACL counter is greater than a predetermined threshold value. The method continues by registering a corresponding code as a rare probability connection call (RPCC) when the value of the counter is greater than the threshold value, outputting the corresponding code to an operator through an operator terminal, requesting call control with respect to the call request which is routed to the corresponding route, and clearing the value of the counter when the value of the counter is less than the threshold value after the measurement unit time has passed.

摘要： Methods for improving the performance of type-II and type-I ICLs, particularly in the mid-IR wavelength range, are provided. The electron injector of a type-II or a type-I ICL can be heavily n-doped to increase the ratio of electrons to holes in the active quantum wells, thereby increasing the probability of radiative recombination in the active quantum wells and reducing the threshold current density Jth needed to achieve lasing. For both type-II and type-I ICLs, the doping should have a sheet density in the low-1012 range. In either the type-II or the type-I case, in some embodiments, heavy doping can be concentrated in the middle quantum wells of the electron injector, while in other embodiments, doping with silicon can be shifted towards the active quantum wells.

摘要： A laser apparatus configured for epitaxial-side-down mounting on a heat sink. The laser apparatus includes a semiconductor laser structure and at least one post on a substrate where the laser structure and post are separated from each other by a channel. The laser structure and the posts optionally are coated with a heat-spreading material layer and are configured so that the maximum height of the posts is about the same as the maximum height of the laser structure. When the laser apparatus is mounted to a heat sink in an epi-down configuration using solder applied to the top of the laser structure and the at least one post, the channels between the at least one post and the laser structure provide a relief flow path for the solder and ensure that the laser structure does not come directly into contact with the solder.
