    • PURPOSE:To prevent the external stray dust from sticking to an optical head part and an optical disk part by separating a 1st chamber including the optical head part from a 2nd chamber including an optical disk circuit part by means of a shielding plate and closing up the 1st chamber in order to prevent a cooling air flow from entering the 1st chamber. CONSTITUTION:The inside of an optical disk device is divided into at least a 1st chamber including an optical head part and a 2nd chamber including an optical disk circuit part 4 by means of the shielding plates 8 and 16. Then a 1st chamber is closed up so that a cooling air flow of the 2nd chamber does not enter the 1st chamber. In other words, an optical disk device 15 is divided into a 2nd chamber (cooling part) where the outside air is circulating and a 1st chamber (non-cooling part) where no outside air is circulating in terms of mechanism. Then the heating parts are concentrated in the 2nd chamber and at the same time the 1st chamber is closed up to contain only such parts that with do with the natural cooling. Thus the outside air is supplied to the 2nd chamber to cool it as necessary. Meanwhile the outside air is not substantially circulated in the 1st chamber. Thus the influence of the external stray dust is minimized.

    • PURPOSE:To record and reproduce information on both faces of an optical disk without reversing the disk by switching the optical disk set to a table to forward rotation and reverse rotation and focusing the light from an optical head on an arbitrary recording and reproducing face. CONSTITUTION:If the recording or reproducing address on an optical disk 8 accessed by a higher device is placed on a first face 3a of the optical disk 8, a control part 10 controls a driving part to rotate the optical disk in the forward rotation direction by a prescribed number of rotations and controls a focusing part 9 to focus an emitted light 7 from an optical head 5 on a recording part 1a. If the accessed address is placed on a second face 3b, the control part 10 controls the driving part to rotate the optical disk in the reverse rotation direction by a prescribed number of rotations and controls the focusing part 9 to focus an emitted light 6 from the optical head 5 on a recording part 1b.

    • PURPOSE:To shorten the time needed for rereading check done immediately after the data are recorded by setting the dividing length of a spiral track at the value smaller than a single round of circumference of a disk. CONSTITUTION:One round of circumference of a disk 1 is divided into eight equal parts, for example, and tracks T1 and T2 contain sectors -30-35 and -35-41 respectively. The length of a single track is set smaller than one round of the circumference of the disk 1 in order to secure the drive time needed for jump over the optical system of an optical disk device to outside by one round to check the reproduction immediately after the data are recorded. When data are recorded on the track T1, the track number of an ID part in the sector 30 is reproduced together with the sector number. Then the data are recorded at a data part when the ID part is reproduced correctly. However no data is recorded if an ID error 60 is detected at the sector 31. Then the data are recorded to the sector 32. When all recording jobs are through, the optical system jumps to outside by one round of the circumference of the disk 1. Thus the reproduction checking job is started at and after the head sector 30 with the margin of time.

    • PURPOSE:To reduce an error rate for the reproduction of information by providing a driving means which shifts a cleaning means to a position where a contact is secured with the disk surface in response to the action signal given from a host device owing to a reproduction error. CONSTITUTION:An optical disk controller 20 contains a reproduction error detector which decides whether the received information is correct or not. The controller 20 gives an instruction to an optical disk driving device 21 to clean the surface of an optical disk 1 via a brush 6 and to retry reproduction in case the reproduction is wrong due to the wrong information. When receiving said instruction, the driving device 21 lifts the brush 6 up to a position where the contact is secured with the surface of the disk 1 by means of a solenoid 5 in order to remove the dust, etc. Then the brush 6 is detached again from the surface of the disk 1. The brush 6 is kept contact with the surface of the disk 1 only when a reproduction error is produced. Other wise the brush 6 is kept away from the surface of the disk 1. This prevents the undesired damage given to the disk 1 and reduces the error ratio for the reproduction of information.

    • PURPOSE:To reduce the occurrence of focus detection error with respect to the deviation of the direction or the position of an optical beam by arranging shielding elements before and after the converging point of a reflected light and forming an approximately rectangular optical pattern on a photodetector. CONSTITUTION:The first and the second shielding elements 10 and 11 are arranged before and after a converging point P1 of an optical beam 2, and an approximately rectangular optical pattern 12 is formed on light receiving surfaces of photodetectors 5a and 5b. In this constitution, boundary lines 13 and 14 of photodetectors 5a and 5b are moved in the vertical direction according as the inclination of a lens 3 is varied. In this case, positional relations among the converging point P1 and shielding elements 10 and 11 are selected properly to equalize extents of movement of boundary lines 13 and 14 on photodetectors. Thus, a device is obtained where the focus position detection error is difficult to occur with respect to the deviation of the direction or the position of the optical beam.

    • PURPOSE: To correct a direction variation of a prism emitted light of the time of a temperature variation, and to prevent the generation of an error of a detecting signal of a focal position and track position detecting system by supporting a prism by a supporting body of a material of a different coefficient of thermal expansion.
      CONSTITUTION: A laser beam 2 is corrected as to a direction variation of an emitted light caused by a wavelength variation, by a prism 4 consisting of two kinds of prisms 5, 6 having each different wavelength - refractive index characteristic, reaches a disk 14, and one of its reflected lights detects a track position by a detector 16, and the other detects a focal position by a detector 20. By a temperature variation, the prism 4 emitted beam is varied by a direction θ and gives an error to a detecting signal. Arms 8, 9 for supporting the prism 4 are constituted of a material of a different coefficient of thermal expansion. Accordingly, the direction variation θ of the emitted beam of the prism 4 is corrected, so that an error of a focal position and track position detecting system is not generated.
