    • PURPOSE:To obtain a focus error detection signal with less effect by a change in a reflected light due to the shape change in the reflected plane by arranging each photodetector on each optical path in a positional relation where the size change in the focus photodetection image appears oppositely each other attended with out of focus. CONSTITUTION:The reflected light 2 focused by a condenser lens 3 is divided into two by a beam splitter 10 and a straight light 2A and a branched light 2B form focal points P1, P2 at an equal position from a branched face 10' respectively. In this case, two photodetectors 13, 14 are used, one photodetector 13 is arranged to a position near the beam splitter by a prescribed distance (w) from the focal point P2 and the other photodetector is arranged at a position parted from the focal point P1 by a distance (w) and the beam splitter output light is received at a respective position. Thus, the differential output V of the photodetectors 13 and 14 shows an S-shaped characteristic curve to the deviation delta of focal point to constitute an automatic focus servo system.

    • PURPOSE:To reduce the occurrence of focus detection error with respect to the deviation of the direction or the position of an optical beam by arranging shielding elements before and after the converging point of a reflected light and forming an approximately rectangular optical pattern on a photodetector. CONSTITUTION:The first and the second shielding elements 10 and 11 are arranged before and after a converging point P1 of an optical beam 2, and an approximately rectangular optical pattern 12 is formed on light receiving surfaces of photodetectors 5a and 5b. In this constitution, boundary lines 13 and 14 of photodetectors 5a and 5b are moved in the vertical direction according as the inclination of a lens 3 is varied. In this case, positional relations among the converging point P1 and shielding elements 10 and 11 are selected properly to equalize extents of movement of boundary lines 13 and 14 on photodetectors. Thus, a device is obtained where the focus position detection error is difficult to occur with respect to the deviation of the direction or the position of the optical beam.

    • PURPOSE:To obtain an optical disk apparatus having a focus error detector in which the change of a reflected light quantity or an optical axis due to the state of an optical disk recording surface scarcely influences a focus error signal. CONSTITUTION:The optical disk apparatus comprises an optical system 21 for casting a laser beam at a rotating recording medium 22, a beam splitter 25 for separating the reflected light beam from the medium into first and second convergent light beams, first and second photodetectors 13, 14 disposed on the optical paths of the first and secod light beams, and a circuit for generating a focus error signal corresponding to the difference of the outputs of the photodetectors. The photodetectors are disposed on the paths in the positional relationship in which the amplitude changes of light receiving images due to the lights upon the deviation of the focuses occurs in reverse directions to form focus error signals from the outputs of second and third areas 16a-16d to obtain a tracking control signal for allowing the positions which is irradiated with the laser beam, from the output of the spit areas 16e-16h to follow up the track of the medium.

    • PURPOSE:To permit simultaneous execution of information erasing of magneto-optical recording films on both sides of a both-face type magneto-optical recording medium by freshly providing a magnetic material layer between two sheets of the magneto- optical recording films. CONSTITUTION:The magneto-optical recording films 2 are formed on the respective one face of two sheets of transparent substrates 1 and the magnetic material layer 4 is provided between two sheets of the magneto-optical recording films 2. The respective magneto-optical recording films 2 are adhered to the magnetic material layer 4 via adhesive layers 3. The pole opposite from a magnetic pole 5 is generated on the surface of the magnetic material layer 4 provided between two sheets of the magneto-optical recording films 4 when said magnetic material layer is placed in magnetism and, therefore, magnetic lines 6 of force arrive in the converged state from the magnetic pole 5 at the magnetic material layer 4. Since the magnetic field is perpendicular to the magneto-optical recording films 2 at this time, the magnetization directions of the magneto-optical recording films can be unified. Simultaneous execution of such operation with two sheets of the magneto-optical recording films 2 is thereby executed. Execution of the simultaneous erasing of the information on the magneto- optical recording films 2 no both sides of both-face type magneto-optical recording medium is thus permitted.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent the invasion of dust into an optical head and to maintain the initial optical characteristics for a long time by dividing an objective lens into a fixed part close to a recording medium and a movable part separated far from the recording medium and capable of moving along the optical parth. CONSTITUTION:An incident optical beam 12 from the lower part is passed through a movable objective lens 4 and a fixed objective lens 3 and forms its focus on an optical disk 13. A coil 6 opposed to a magnet 7 and a yoke 8 is wound around a bobbin 5 fixed on the lens 4, and when current is allowed to flow into the coil 6, the objective lens moving part supported by a spring 9 is moved in the optical axis direction, so that the focus position of the optical beam 12 can be controlled. Thereby, the periphery of the lens 13 can be sealed by fixing the lens 13 to the cover 2, so that the invasion of dust from the outside can be prevented. New parts for focusing are not required and the drop of high resonance frequency due to the deterioration in the frequency characteristics of the driver can be prevented.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent a substrate on a recording film from being impaired by forming the thickness of the substrate at an inner peripheral part and an outer peripheral part where no recording film is formed thicker than other part. CONSTITUTION:An optical disk is constituted by forming the recording film 2 on the substrate 1 through which light transmits and sticking a pair of substrates 1 on which the recording films 2 are formed by sandwiching an outer peripheral spacer 3 and an inner peripheral spacer 4 so as to confront the recording films 2 with each other at the inner side. And the thickness of the substrate 1 at the outer peripheral part 1a and the inner peripheral part 1b where no recording film 2 is formed is increased, which exceeds the height of a part 1c where the recording film 2 is formed, and the part 1c where the recording film 2 is formed forms the recessed part of a flat plane. Therefore, the thick parts 1a and 1b of the substrate 1 are brought into contact with an external object. In such a way, it is possible to prevent the substrate on the recording film from being impaired.

    • PURPOSE:To perform the accurate control of light emission by using a polarizer to alloy the laser light into a polarized beam splitter and to transmit only the polarized beam that is parallel with the incident plane among those laser beams which are radiated from the beam splitter and does not read a recording medium. CONSTITUTION:The laser light radiated from a laser diode 101 is made incident on a polarized beam splitter 204 via a coupling lens 102 and a triangular prism 103. The splitter 204 separates the laser light reaching a recording medium 106 from the light that does not reach the medium 106. While the light transmitted through the splitter 204 is made incident on the medium 106 via a stop-down lens 105. While the light reflected by the medium 106 is reflected again by the splitter 204 via the lens 105 and made incident on a signal processing system 111. Only the deflected light that is parallel with the incident surface is transmitted through a polarizer 207 among those beams which do not reach the medium 106. Then said transmitted light is received by a photodetector 109 through a stop-down lens 108. The output of the photodetector 109 controls the diode 101 via an optical output controller 110. In such a way, the correct control is possible with emission of light.
