    • An ignition system for an internal combustion engine is disclosed. The ignition system includes a timing signal detector responsive to the rotation speed of an engine to generate a pulse signal including a leading edge and a trailing edge corresponding to the ignition timing and having a predetermined duty cycle, a triangular wave generator for generating a triangular wave voltage synchronized with the trailing edge of the pulse signal, a voltage storing circuit for storing the voltage level of the triangular wave voltage in synchronism with the leading edge of the pulse signal, a voltage divider for dividing the stored voltage in the voltage storing circuit to generate a reference voltage, a comparator for comparing the reference voltage and the triangular wave voltage to detect a difference therebetween, a charging and discharging controller for correcting the stored voltage in the voltage storing circuit so as to reduce to zero the difference at the leading edge of the pulse signal, a threshold voltage generator for generating a threshold voltage which is offset from the stored voltage by an amount corresponding to the desired dwell time of an ignition coil, and an energization controller for controlling the dwell time of the ignition coil in accordance with the result of a comparison between the threshold voltage and the triangular wave voltage.

    • An electric actuator including a stationary housing, an output shaft rotatably supported by the housing, an output member mounted on said output shaft, an electric motor secured to the housing, speed reduction gear mechanism for reducing the rotational speed of the electric motor, differential gear mechanism provided between the output shaft and the speed reduction gear mechanism, an electromagnetic brake operatively connected to the differential gear mechanism. The differential gear mechanism includes an output side differential gear secured to the output shaft, and a brake side differential gear rotatable with a brake plate of the electromagnetic clutch. The electromagnetic brake includes an electromagnetic coil and an electromagnetic yoke secured to the housing, so that when the brake side differential gear is prevented from rotating by the electromagnetic brake the electric motor controls displacement of the output member, and when the brake side differential gear is freely rotatable relative to the housing the output member is freely rotatable irrespective of the rotation of the electric motor.

    • A following distance measuring communication system comprising a transmitter and a receiver which are mounted on the front part of a following automotive vehicle, a time measuring unit connected to the transmitter and the receiver provided on the following automobile, and an answering transmitter-receiver unit mounted on the rear part of a preceeding vehicle. A pulse modulated signal is transmitted from the transmitter on the following vehicle, and this signal is received by the answering transmitter-receiver unit on the preceeding vehicle. At the instant that the signal is received, the answering transmitter-receiver unit on the preceeding vehicle generates a reply signal which is in turn received by the receiver on the following vehicle. The time required for this process is measured by the time measuring unit connected to the following vehicle receiver to determine the distance between the following vehicle and the preceeding vehicle.
