摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To execute treatment with simple equipment in a short treating time at an inexpensive cost, by feeding a fluororesin into molten steel, preferably, forcedly inserting a fluororesin-cored wire into the molten steel while inert gas is blown therein. SOLUTION: As the fluororesin, [CF2CFCl]n (polychlorotrifluoroethylene) or [CF2CF2]n (polytetrafluoroethylene) is used. As the method for feeding this into the molten steel, the one of spraying the powder of the fluororesin with inert gas as carrier gas, the one of inserting the one obtd. by coating the powder of the fluororesin with a suitable material therein or the like is given, but, preferably, a fluororesin-cored wire obtd. by coating the powder of the fluororesin with a thin sheet of steel is used. The amt. of the fluororesin to be added is suitably controlled to about 0.05 to 2 kg/molten (t). The increase of the content of C in the molten steel by the added fluororesin is 0.002 to 0.01 wt.% in the case of the addition of the fluororesin 1 kg/the molten steel (t).

Further, the unevenness of flowing-in of the powder in the width direction developed caused by the difference of the gap between the part formed with the groove and the part without forming the groove, is improved by reducing the width and the depth of the grooves in the casting direction. The formation of the grooves 23 has the effect even only on the inner surfaces of one pair of long side parts in the mold in the case of being the mold for slab, but the application to the whole periphery of the mold is desirable. By this method, while drastically reducing the surface flow of longitudinal crack, pinhole, etc., the inclusion is reduced and the quality of cast slab can be improved.
