摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To protect a tape in tape unloading operation by preventing excessive tension from working upon the tape irrespective of wound diameter. SOLUTION: At the time of performing the tape unloading operation, a winding diameter of the tape mounted on a reel based for taking up this magnetic ape is discriminated by a winding diameter discriminating means 5. A proper take-up driving force of the reel corresponding to this discriminating result is calculated by a driving source control means 8, and with its calculating result and a revolving speed corresponding to the state of a tape take-up amt. in this system, the driving source is successively controlled to be operated accordingly.

摘要： PURPOSE: To provide a chamfered part in a large amt. of chamfering on a part of a chamfered part of a guide step for a magnetic tape for the purpose of smoothly settling the magnetic tape to the guide step on a lower drum when the tape is wound or unwound. CONSTITUTION: The guide step 4 on the lower drum is formed with a chamfered part in a small amt. of chamfering (not shown in the figure), whereas a part swollen in an upper part of the guide step 4 due to the minutely undulating guide step 4 is provided with the chamfered part 8 in a large amt. of chamfering at a prescribed inclined angle. Even when an lower edge part of the magnetic tape is mounted on the chamfered part 8 to be deviated from the guide step 4 in the case of loading and unloading the magnetic tape into and from the rotary magnetic head device, the bend of the magnetic tape is too small to incur damage. Then, since the width of the guide step 4 in the chamfered part 8 is narrow, while the width of the guide step 4 in the chamfered part in the small amt. of chamfering is wide, the magnetic tape is always stably brought into contact with the guide step 4.

摘要： PURPOSE: To obtain stable head contact in diminishing a tape floating amt. and to protect a magnetic tape by preventing an edge part of the tape from being inserted into a gap by forming an outer peripheral surface in the vicinity of the head of an upper rotary drum into a taper with a small diameter. CONSTITUTION: The outer peripheral surface of the upper rotary drum 6 in the vicinity of a scanning part of the magnetic head 7 is constituted of a cylindrical surface forming a taper having a smaller diameter than a magnetic tape traveling surface 15 of a lower fixed drum 1. By this method, the magnetic tape floating amt. in the scanning part of the head is diminished, and even when a tape tension is varied to be small, stable head contact can be obtained. Then, a gap between the upper rotary drum 6 and the lower fixed drum 1 can be made small, so that at the time of winding and unwinding, the edge part of the tape is prevented from being bitten into this gap, and also even in the case of a tape having a damaged edge, the tape can smoothly and stably be traveled along the outer peripheral surface of the drum by the tapered part.

Thus, the damage to the tape can be prevented.
