    • The transfer blanket (10), in particular a rubber blanket, for a printing press, has a carrier layer (11), a covering layer (12) and at least one intermediate layer (13, 14, 15) which is positioned between the carrier layer and the covering layer, the carrier layer protruding, compared with at least one intermediate layer, at at least one end of the transfer blanket (10), using which end the said transfer blanket (10) can be fastened at a clamping point (17) of a printing press, and ends of the or each intermediate layer, which are of shortened configuration compared with the carrier layer (11), being sealed with the aid of a sealing layer (16). The sealing layer (16) extends over the carrier layer (11) in such a way that the transfer blanket can be fastened at the clamping point of the printing press at least via the carrier layer and the sealing layer.

    • An apparatus and method for storing rubber-covered cylinder sleeves for offset printing for rotary printing machines permits an identified rubber-covered cylinder sleeve to be found easily. The apparatus is equipped with an electronic memory device into which, for each rubber-covered cylinder sleeve, characteristic data can be entered and stored. As the rubber-covered cylinder sleeve is introduced into a storage, the characteristic data from the rubber-covered cylinder sleeve are read into the memory device, and the rubber-covered cylinder sleeve can be removed from the storage apparatus in accordance with predefined data.

    • A rubber sleeve for a printing press and a method for producing a rubber sleeve is disclosed. The rubber sleeve has a rigid support sleeve and a blanket that is wrapped around the support sleeve as well as is firmly connected to the support sleeve. The blanket has at least a two-layer structure with an inner layer embodied as a base layer and an outer layer serving as a functional layer for the printing process, where the butting edges of the blanket are connected to one another via a sealing material, which is introduced in a gap embodied between the butting edges. The sealing material is introduced in the gap embodied between the butting edges while forming a channel.

    • An ink transfer device which can be clamped on a rubber covered cylinder in a printing press includes a rubber blanket for transferring ink from a printing forme to a printing material, the blanket having a leading end and a trailing end which are separated by a non-ink transferring gap when the device is clamped on the cylinder; a carrier element fixed to the rubber blanket; and a pair of fixing elements for clamping the blanket on the cylinder, the fixing elements being positioned on the carrier adjacent to respective ends of the blanket. In order to minimize the non-ink transferring gap, the fixing elements and the carrier element are formed as separate subassemblies which are joined together.

    • A method for influencing lateral web spreading in a printing unit in a rotary printing press, the printing unit having first and second transfer cylinders contacting each other along a contact zone for receiving a web to be printed on therebetween and undergoing a deflection during operation, and at least one plate cylinder which is respectively settable against one of the first and second transfer cylinders for printing on at least one side of the web receivable in the contact zone. The method includes passing the web between the first and second transfer cylinders through the contact zone; and applying a bending moment to at least one of the first and second blanket cylinders counter to a direction of the deflection of the at least one of the first and second blanket cylinders to reduce the deflection, the bending moment being effected by a variable force applied to a cylinder axle of the at least one of the first and second blanket cylinders by a bending apparatus, so that a pressure in a center region of the contact zone along a length of the contact zone is increased thereby increasing the effective radius of at least one rubber blanket clamped onto one of the first and second transfer cylinders from the center region of the contact zone outward so that a concave velocity profile is produced on the web passing through the contact zone between the first and second transfer cylinders, the velocity at the outer sides of the concave velocity profile being greater than the velocity at the center of the velocity profile.
