    • A printing press cylinder is disclosed. The cylinder includes a lock-up channel extending in an axial direction of the cylinder, where a clamping piece is accommodated in the lock-up channel to clamp a plate on a surface area of the printing press cylinder. The clamping piece includes first feed slants and second feed slants. Projections of the leading edge of a to-be-clamped plate are co-operable with the first feed slants and projections of the trailing edge of a to-be-clamped plate are co-operable with the second feed slants such that the leading edge of the to-be-clamped plate is clampable in a self-centering manner between the clamping piece and a leading channel wall of the lock-up channel and the trailing edge of the to-be-clamped plate is clampable in a self-centering manner between the clamping piece and a trailing channel wall of the lock-up channel.

    • A method for influencing lateral web spreading in a printing unit in a rotary printing press, the printing unit having first and second transfer cylinders contacting each other along a contact zone for receiving a web to be printed on therebetween and undergoing a deflection during operation, and at least one plate cylinder which is respectively settable against one of the first and second transfer cylinders for printing on at least one side of the web receivable in the contact zone. The method includes passing the web between the first and second transfer cylinders through the contact zone; and applying a bending moment to at least one of the first and second blanket cylinders counter to a direction of the deflection of the at least one of the first and second blanket cylinders to reduce the deflection, the bending moment being effected by a variable force applied to a cylinder axle of the at least one of the first and second blanket cylinders by a bending apparatus, so that a pressure in a center region of the contact zone along a length of the contact zone is increased thereby increasing the effective radius of at least one rubber blanket clamped onto one of the first and second transfer cylinders from the center region of the contact zone outward so that a concave velocity profile is produced on the web passing through the contact zone between the first and second transfer cylinders, the velocity at the outer sides of the concave velocity profile being greater than the velocity at the center of the velocity profile.

    • A printing roller for channel-free printing, in particular for a rotary offset printing machine including a roller core 1 on which a sleeve-shaped printing or transfer form 2 can be positioned. The roller includes a thin intermediate layer 7 provided at least partially between the outer surface of the roller core 1 and the inner surface of the sleeve-shaped printing or transfer form 2 for adjusting the printing or transfer form 2 on the printing roller 1, 3, 4, 6 and for securing the printing or transfer form 2 in an improved manner. The printing roller constructed according to the present invention allows a sleeve-shaped printing or transfer form to be adjusted or fitted precisely and in a stationary manner on the printing roller when slid onto the printing roller without limiting the principle on which the sleeve technique for printing is based.
