摘要： A light beam position detecting device detects the passage positions of a plurality of light beams for scanning the surface of a photosensitive drum. The light beam position detecting device has a sensor pattern for generating an output which is continuously changed in a wide range with a variation in the passage position of the light beam in a sub-scanning direction perpendicular to a main scanning direction of the light beam. The sensor pattern precisely detects the relative scanning position of the light beam in a wide range. The passage positions of the plurality of light beams for scanning the surface of the photosensitive drum are controlled to a preset position based on the output of the sensor pattern.

摘要： A synchronizing circuit and a timing adjusting circuit set a position of an exposure area by beam scanning as an additional value of a first setting value set in dot unit corresponding to the scanning of a pixel clock period and a second setting value set in tap unit corresponding to the scanning of a period smaller than the pixel clock period. A CPU controls the synchronizing circuit and the timing adjusting circuit so that the exposed position becomes an objective position. The CPU changes the second setting value to a first predetermined value by increasing the first setting value by one dot, in the case that the additional value is increased to reach a first threshold. Further, the CPU changes the second setting value to a second predetermined value by decreasing the first setting value by one dot, in the case that the additional value of the synchronizing circuit and the timing adjusting circuit in which the first setting value is increased by one dot is decreased to reach a second threshold smaller than the first threshold.

摘要： When a CPU begins to monitor whether delay variation characteristics of a pulse width variation circuit have varied, it selects a basic delay setting value in a basic delay value setting block from a smallest one. The CPU sets a division number in a phase select block from a given minimum desired division number for pulse width modulation. The CPU senses the level of a phase comparison result signal (PHASE) from the pulse width modulation circuit. If the phase comparison result signal is stable at “1”, the CPU 1 fixes the division number. If the phase comparison result signal is “0” and the division number is not maximum, the CPU increases the division number and goes back to the setting of the division number. If the division number is maximum, the CPU increases the basic delay and goes back to the basic delay setting.

摘要： Four beams are caused to scan a scanning surface in the main scanning direction in parallel. The beams expose the target area between two optical sensors, not the surface of a photosensitive drum, to produce correction data to correct shifts in the exposure positions of the four beams in the main scanning direction with an accuracy of less than a small fraction of one pixel. On the basis of the correction data, an actual image formation area is set on the photosensitive drum. This makes it possible to always control the relative exposure scanning position accurately even when the relationship between the main scanning positions of the light beams is unknown.

摘要： A beam position detector output processor converts an output from a beam position detector into beam position information. A main control unit detects a total offset value of a plurality of operational amplifiers constituting the processor. The detected offset value is used to compensate a determination reference value used to control the sub-scanning position of a beam, or the beam position information obtained from the beam position detector output processor. As a result, the offsets of the operational amplifiers constituting the beam position detector output processor are compensated.

摘要： An apparatus for printing an image which is stored on an optical disk is read by a scanner. A plurality of images read out from the optical disk are edited to form an abstract image on the basis of a predetermined unit (e.g., one page), and code data (i.e., retrieval data) is added to the abstract image. The resultant image, including both the abstract image and the code data, is printed on a sheet. The code data is extracted from the printed image, and desired images are retrieved from the optical disk on the basis of the code data.

摘要： An image reading apparatus which has position deviated line sensors. The line sensors are formed by charge coupled devices which are arranged in two staggered rows. The signal from one of the charge coupled devices is delayed for a predetermined period corresponding to the distance between the rows, the speed of scanning and the reading density of the original. An actual timing deviation is calculated to delay one signal relative to the other so that the two signals will be output at the same time.
