    • A method of comparing a patient's neurological data to data that is indicative of the patient's clinical manifestation of a seizure. In some embodiments, the method includes the steps of monitoring neurological data from a patient indicative of the patient's propensity for having a seizure; automatically recording clinical manifestation data from the patient that may be indicative of the occurrence of a clinical seizure; and analyzing the automatically recorded clinical manifestation data and the monitored neurological data to determine if one of the clinical manifestation data and the neurological data indicates the occurrence of a seizure while the other does not. Systems are described including a monitoring device having a communication assembly for receiving neurological data transmitted external to a patient from a transmitter implanted in a patient; a processor that processes the neurological data to estimate the patient's brain state; and an assembly for automatically recording clinical manifestation data in response to a brain state estimate by the processor.

    • Methods are provided for modulating a drug response comprising determining that a patient has an elevated or reduced susceptibility for a neurological event; outputting a signal that indicates to the patient to administer an acute dosage of a pharmacological agent that is sufficient to modulate the patient's susceptibility for the neurological event, wherein the drug response is modulated. Systems are also provided for treating epilepsy comprising an electrode array configured to receive a signal from a patient; a processing assembly configured to receive and process the signal to determine the patient's susceptibility for a neurological event; an output assembly configured to produce an output that indicates to the patient to administer an acute dosage of a pharmacological agent that is sufficient to reduce the patient's susceptibility for the neurological event, wherein the drug response to the pharmacological agent is attenuated.

    • The present invention is an apparatus and method for detecting differential mode signals in an environment where differential mode signals co-exist, and might be corrupted by, common mode signals. The most basic apparatus of the present invention essentially comprises first and second input leads through which both differential mode and common mode signals are input; a first amplifier block having a gain that is substantially one; and at least an inverting node and a non-inverting node connected to the first and second input leads. The output of the amplifier block is fed back to the input of the non-inverting node of the amplifier block in a manner to increase differential mode impedance while maintaining a low common mode impedance. Various embodiments of the basic presently claimed circuitry provides for additional methods of monitoring the level of common-mode signal introduced to the apparatus and other fault detection functions.
