    • The invention is directed to a trocar adapted to form a seal around a surgical instrument, the trocar comprising a cannula having an axis extending between a proximal end and a distal end; a housing having a proximal wall and forming with the cannula a working channel sized and configured to receive the instrument; a septum seal disposed in the housing and extending transverse to the axis of the cannula across the working channel, the septum seal having a normal state when the instrument is absent from the working channel and a stretched state when the instrument is being withdrawn from the working channel; portions of the proximal wall of the housing defining an orifice sized and configured to receive the instrument into the working channel; and an elastomeric ring-shaped projection extending axially distally between the proximal wall and the septum seal, the ring-shaped projection having an axial length adapted to deform to prevent inversion and binding of the septum seal and the orifice upon withdrawal of the surgical instrument. In particular, the septum seal is prevented from reaching the orifice in the proximal wall of the housing when the instrument is withdrawn. The projection may be bonded, insert-molded, or compressively fitted to the proximal wall of the housing. The projection may be formed of an elastomeric material such as natural or synthetic rubber. The projection may further comprise a plurality of portions or fingers extending axially distally from the proximal wall, each of the extending portions or fingers may further include a living hinge. In another aspect, the ring-shaped projection may be formed on the surface of the septum seal instead of the proximal wall of the housing. That is, the ring-shaped projection may be formed to extend axially proximally from the surface of the septum seal toward the proximal wall of the housing.

    • A system for anonymously initiating communication between system-connected communications devices is provided wherein the initiation of communication results from comparison and priority matching of profile information shared between the devices. The system in one aspect comprises at least two communications devices connected to the system, the communications devices having at least a microprocessor, a data-input mechanism, a display screen, a wireless local-area-network protocol application enhanced with short-wave radio communication capability installed per instance to each of the devices, and a profile comparison and matching application installed per instance to each of the devices. When any two of the devices come into short-wave radio range of each other, the devices activated, a wireless local-area-network is established and the in-range devices swap profiles, which are compared to profiles held locally on each device such that a profile match registering on at least one device enables the device matching the profile to signal the sending device of the matched profile in order to request communication between the devices.

    • A stud wall framing construction comprises a lower track; an upper track aligned with and vertically spaced from the lower track; and a plurality of vertically aligned studs positioned between the lower and upper tracks. The lower and upper end portions of the studs are positioned within the lower and upper tracks, respectively. Each of the lower and upper tracks includes a channel with opposed track sidewalls and a track base wall. The track sidewalls have a plurality of inwardly projecting track protrusions formed from the sidewalls. Each of the track protrusions on one of the sidewalls is paired with another track protrusion disposed across the opposite sidewall. The lower and upper end portions of the studs has opposed stud sidewalls and plurality of inwardly projecting stud protrusions formed from the stud sidewalls. Each of the stud protrusions on one of the stud sidewalls is paired with another stud protrusion disposed across the opposite stud sidewall. The track and stud protrusions are adapted such that each of the pair track protrusions nest into a respective pair of stud protrusions, thereby locking the studs in the tracks.
