    • PURPOSE:To develop an impermeable carbon material which is small in shrinkage at the time of carbonization by subjecting a thermosetting intermediate product which is obtd. by a thermal reaction of a mixture composed of a condensed polycyclic arom. compd., specific arom. crosslinking agent and acid catalyst to thermal curing and molding, then to a carbonization or graphitization at a high temp. CONSTITUTION:The mixture composed of the condensed polycyclic arom. compd. which is a mixture of >=1 kinds of derivs. consisting of naphthalene, anthracene, etc., as main skeleton, heavy gravity oils of coal and petroleum, tar, pitch, and the oxide, sulfide, halide, etc., of said materials, the arom. crosslinking agent consisting of 1 or >=2 arom. rings contg. 1 or >=2 kinds of a hydroxy methyl group and halomethyl group, and the acid catalyst such as aluminum chloride, boron fluoride or phosphoric acid or the thermosetting intermediate product obtd. by the thermal reaction of such mixture is heated to 100-400 deg.C in an oxidative or nonoxidative atmosphere and is plasticized, by which the mixture is thermally cured and molded to the prescribed shape; thereafter the molding is carbonized or graphitized. The impermeable carbon material which is small in shrinkage at the time of carbonization and has an intricate shape is thus produced.

    • PURPOSE:To maintain the fixed state stable over a long period of time after embedment and to prevent the generation of the dislodgment, rotation, etc., of a core material by constituting the above material of the core material and a porous layer and forming the core material to a noncircular sectional shape in a part of the sectional shape thereof. CONSTITUTION:The artificial tooth root material is formed with the porous layer on the surface of the core material. The core has a bar shape and is preferably formed by using bioinert carbon fiber reinforced carbon material having high strength, titanium, alumina, etc. The porous layer may be made of such a material which allows the biotissue to advance into the pores of the porous layer to form the secure connective tissue when embedded into a living body and allows the connective tissue to cause calcification and change to the osteostructure; for example, the porous layer consisting of alumina and the carbonaceous porous layer or the like formed by depositing pyrolysis carbon on a non-woven fabric of carbon fibers, etc., are exemplified. The sectional shape in at least a part of the core material has the noncircular sectional shape and is not made into a threaded structure. Since the porous layer is formed on such core material, the peeling, rotation, etc., at the boundary between the core material and the porous layer is prevented.
