摘要： A short-wavelength laser having a stable output and an optical information processing system capable of high-density recording are disclosed. A solid-state laser is used as a light source, and a nonlinear optical crystal is arranged in a resonator in order to produce a short wavelength by means of a solid-state laser. The retardation of the nonlinear optical crystal is controlled by determining the length of the nonlinear optical crystal. A solid-state laser device having a stable output with the noise removed from a pumping power light source is also provided. Further, the solid-state laser device is used as a light source for the optical information processing system, and the light of irrelevant wavelengths contained in the light from the solid-state laser device are removed by a device having the ability to select wavelengths. Thus, not only a stable light source with a short wavelength but also an optical information processing system capable of high-density recording are realized.

摘要： A separation type optical head according to the present invention includes at least a light source portion for emitting collimated beams, a focusing device (a focusing lens) for focusing the collimated beams onto an information recording surface of an optical disc medium, a focal point control mechanism for the position of the spot on the information recording surface, and a photo-detection portion for receiving beams reflected by the information recording surface. The structure is divided into a fixed portion including the light source portion and the photo-detection portion and a movable portion including the focusing device (focusing lens) and the focal point control mechanism. At least the movable portion of the separation type optical head is movably accommodated n a frame (sealing case) for the optical head so as to prevent irregular vibrations of the movable portion due to high speed air flows or turbulence. Furthermore, a focal point control mechanism of an air float type may be employed in the movable portion of the separation type optical head so as to actively utilize the high speed air flow generated due to the rotation of the disc medium to perform a rough adjustment of the focal point of the focusing device.

摘要： An optical information processing device comprises a semiconductor laser, and an optical system including an imaging lens having chromatic aberration for focusing laser light emitted by the semiconductor laser in the form of a spot on an information recording surface. The imaging lens serves for focusing the laser light at different positions along the optical axis for different wavelengths. The information processing device also includes an apparatus for producing relative displacements between the spot and the information recording surface, and an apparatus for varying the wavelength of the light emitted by the semiconductor laser with the device being characterized in that the imaging position of the spot is displaced along the optical axis depending on variations in wavelength of the light emitted by the semiconductor laser and the chromatic aberration of the imaging lens. The focusing control can be effected by driving the wavelength changing apparatus by using focal point detection signals. Further, it is possible to effect multigrade recording by driving the wavelength changing apparatus by multigrade information signals.

摘要： A focal position detecting optical apparatus wherein a light beam focused by a first optical system is irradiated on an object to be illuminated, focal point images are formed at two foci spaced apart from each other by a cylindrical lens disposed in a path of light beam reflected from the object, and a shielding element having a tip edge making an angle of approximately 45.degree. with an operating axis of the cylindrical lens is inserted at a site between the two foci and at which the light beam has a circular cross section to extract a portion of the light beam travelling between the two foci. The extracted portion is detected by two photodetectors disposed symmetrically with an axis lying in substantially the same direction as the tip edge, and the difference between outputs of the two photodetectors is produced for detection of an actual focal position of the first optical system.
