    • In a pulse oximeter for obtaining an oxygen saturation in a blood, a light emitter irradiates a living tissue with light beams having five different wavelengths. A light receiver receives respective light beams reflected from or transmitted through the living tissue, and converts the received light beams to electric signals. A first calculator calculates five attenuation changes of the living tissue based on fluctuations of the respective electric signals. A second calculator calculates at least four attenuation change ratios from the five attenuation changes. Each of the attenuation change ratios is defined by a ratio between any two of the five attenuation changes. A third calculator calculates the oxygen saturation based on the attenuation change ratios, while taking an oxygen saturation of arterial blood, an oxygen saturation of venous blood, a ratio between changes in arterial blood and venous blood, and a tissue term as four unknown values.

    • A non-volatile memory device is provided which includes a flash memory having a plurality of banks and a bank selection register which can take on states at least equal in number to the number of banks. The bank selection register outputs a signal to point to one of the banks based upon one of the states of the bank selection register. A controller is also provided having a plurality of data buffers corresponding, respectively, to the banks. In addition to word lines, bit lines and memory cells, each bank includes a data register to temporarily hold data to be written to the memory cells. The controller transmits data in the data buffer to the data register of the pointed to bank, while the flash memory writes data held in the data register to the memory cells of another one of the banks.

    • The control lever equipment for a bar handle vehicle enables smooth pivoting of a grip allowance adjusting mechanism for a control lever with respect to a grip. In this equipment, the control lever is composed essentially of two pieces, i.e., a lever piece and an operating piece, which pivot coaxially independent of each other on a support shaft attached to a holder fixed to the handle bar. An adjusting pin for widening and narrowing the grip allowance between the control lever and the grip of the handle bar is attached either to the lever piece or to the operating piece pivotally on an axis parallel to the support shaft. A resilient piece is interposed between the adjusting pin and a bearing for bearing the shaft end of the adjusting pin, formed either on the lever piece or the operating piece, to be coaxial with the adjusting pin.
