    • The invention relates to new separating materials for thin-layer chromatography which consist of a substrate base and a layer of separating medium and can be obtained by a method comprising the following steps: a) cleaning the substrate base; b) applying a liquid film containing a polysilisic acid ester onto a substrate base; c) introducing the substrate with the liquid film into an atmosphere which triggers the hydrolysis and further polymerisation of the polysilisic acid ester; d) hydrolysis and further polymerisation of the polysilisic acid ester at a constant temperature; e) washing the silisic acid layer; and f) drying the silisic acid layer. The silica gel surface of the separating materials provided for by the invention can be subjected to derivatization with separation effectors.
