摘要： The present invention relates to communications and more particularly, to systems, methods and apparatuses for universal user-to-user communications. A communication system is described which uses a Universal Identification Number (UIN) that identifies each user on the system, encapsulating data that represent the user him or herself. Such data may include, the user's current physical geolocation on the globe; Current status (busy, reachable, not reachable); Current active endpoint to reach at and preferred method of reach; and an aggregation of all endpoints at which the user can be reached, and their geolocation. The described method and network system thereby can dynamically introduce, adapt, and communicate services (in essence personalize) to each user based on their current location and status. Thus, a user may communicate with another user efficiently without the need to know all of their endpoints or without the need to have multiple communication attempts on multiple devices.

摘要： A technique for managing call-routing numbers in a mobile communication network using a distributed switching system is provided. The switching system embodies a cluster configuration, wherein at least one cluster of the switching system comprises a plurality of cluster members, each of which is capable of routing an incoming call based on a call-routing number temporarily associated with the call. A defined series of call-routing numbers is distributed between the plurality of cluster members. The management technique makes use of a common data structure which defines an amount of assignments equal to the length of a given series of call-routing numbers, wherein each assignment uniquely associates a cluster member with one or more least significant digits of the numbers of the number series.

摘要： A process and apparatus to facilitate communication between callers and callees in a system comprising a plurality of nodes with which callers and callees are associated is disclosed. In response to initiation of a call by a calling subscriber, a caller identifier and a callee identifier are received. Call classification criteria associated with the caller identifier are used to classify the call as a public network call or a private network call. 摘要： A method is presented for adapting the packet size for VoIP communications, determined on-the-fly by the total network delay inherent at the time of packet transmission. If network delays are small relative to the maximum permissible latency for VoIP communications, the payload size per packet may be increased to maximize efficiency for the transmitted call. 摘要： The present invention maintains calls during transfers between different types of subsystems, even when there is a bearer path interruption at the user element due to the original connection from the transferring-out subsystem being dropped before the new connection in the transferring-in subsystem is established. The call signaling leg toward the remote endpoint of the remote party is held, while the call signaling leg toward the user element is moved from the transferring-out subsystem to the transferring-in subsystem and a new bearer path is established via the transferring-in subsystem. During transfers with a bearer path interruption, a portion of the bearer path leading to the remote endpoint may be connected to a media resource function, which will provide an announcement to the remote party. Once the user element is accessible in the transferring-in subsystem, the bearer path is further transferred to the user element via the transferring-in subsystem.

摘要： The present invention moves service control, including call control, for a user element from a cellular network to a multimedia subsystem (MS), such as the Internet Protocol (IP) Multimedia Subsystem (IMS). Call control is provided by the MS irrespective of whether the user element is using cellular or WLAN access for the call. Call control for originating and terminating calls in the CS or MS as well as transferring calls between a circuit-switched subsystem (CS) and MS is anchored at a continuity control function (CCF) in the MS. All call signaling for the call is passed through the CCF. The CCF is a service provided in the user element's home MS and anchors the user element's active CS calls and MS sessions to enable active roaming across the CS and MS.

摘要： The present invention provides for a mobile terminal docking station, which is capable of providing docking and undocking signals to assist in routing incoming calls directed to a user associated with the mobile terminal and the docking station. The docking and undocking signaling may be messages sent directly to the entity providing call routing, as well as a special feature code or directory number, which is dialed to alert the wireline switch that the mobile terminal is in a docked or undocked state. Call routing logic is provided in a service node or a wireline switch supporting the docking station, and receives docking or undocking indicia directly from the docking station or indirectly via the wireline switch, and uses the indicia to determine how to route incoming calls to the user.
