摘要： Example devices and techniques for multi-pass decoder-side motion vector refinement (DMVR) are disclosed. An example device includes memory configured to store video data and one or more processors coupled to the memory. The one or more processors are configured to apply a multi-pass DMVR to a motion vector for a block of the video data to determine at least one refined motion vector and decode the block based on the at least one refined motion vector. The multi-pass DMVR includes a block-based first pass, a sub-block-based second pass, and a sub-block-based third pass.

摘要： The present invention relates to the performance of motion vector refinement in a search space for multi-reference inter-prediction. Two or more reference pictures are selected, one of those used for motion vector refinement. Based on an initial estimate of a motion vector to the reference picture for motion vector refinement, a search space in this reference image is constructed. Using template matching, the first motion vector is refined. The second motion vector to another reference picture is calculated using its initial estimate, the initial estimate of the first motion vector and the refined first motion vector.

摘要： A method of decoding video data includes determining, by a video decoder implemented in circuitry, a bi-predicted MV predictor for a block of video data. The bi-predicted MV predictor indicates a first input reference block and a second input reference block. The method further includes refining, by the video decoder, the bi-predicted MV predictor using gradient information to determine a refined bi-predicted MV predictor indicating a first refined reference block that is within a search range from the first input reference block and a second refined reference block that is within the search range from the second input reference block. The method further includes generating, by the video decoder, a predictive block for the block of video data based on the refined bi-predicted MV predictor, and decoding, by the video decoder, the block of video data based on the predictive block.

摘要： Methods and devices for video coding using inter-coding and removing redundant motion vectors from a set of candidate motion vectors. The methods may determine that at least some candidate motion vectors in a set of candidate motion vectors in a search range around the motion vector predictor identify candidate blocks in the previously-reconstructed reference picture that are redundant and, based on that determination, eliminate said at least some of the candidate motion vectors to reduce the set to a subset. In some cases, a candidate block is redundant if it is less than a threshold different from another of the candidate blocks identified by one of the candidate motion vectors in the set. A function may be applied to the candidate block and the another candidate block. If the output from the function in the two cases is the same, then the blocks are determined to be redundant.

摘要： A method of encoding a digital video is provided that improves inter-prediction for encoding using reference pictures. The method includes loading a sub-picture and a list of a plurality of candidate reference pictures at a video encoder, generating a plurality of candidate motion vectors by performing an integer-pel motion estimation operation, calculating a motion estimate score for each of the plurality of candidate motion vectors and selecting the one of the plurality of candidate reference pictures that is associated with the best motion estimate score as a best-match reference picture, performing additional integer-pel motion estimation operations on the best-match reference picture at one or more lower coding levels than the first coding level, refining motion vectors associated with the best-match reference picture at the first coding level and the one or more lower coding levels using fractional-pel motion estimation operations, and encoding the motion vectors into a bitstream.
