    • A socket (10A) has a body section (20A) having a first erected section (21) and a second erected section (22) that are erected in a bifurcated manner.     • The present invention relates to an improved screwless pushbar lampholder comprising an outer shell having a shade ring, an upper dome and barrel joined to each other by means of a union ring, an insert comprising a body, a cover removably attached to each other, means for switching the lamp, placed between the said body and said cover of the said insert, wherein a pair of spring actuated plungers housed in the said hollow cover of the said insert, a pair of protrusions placed parallely adjacent to the said pair of springs inside the inner portion of the said cover of said insert, three U-shaped protrusions provided on the outer portion of the body of said insert for the insertion of terminal wires, wherein a pair of resilient terminals with an open edge angle are provided to grip the said main terminal wires provided through the said U-shape protrusion, a pair of cavities provided in the inner side of the body of the said insert conforming to the size and shape of said resilient terminals to house the said terminals, means for gripping the earth wire and said dome of the shell by way of a screwless earth terminal housed in the said insert body, a cord grip provided on the outer portion of the body of the said insert to grip the said terminal wires and means for demounting the said terminal wires provided at the back of said U-shape protrusions for the smooth removal of said terminal wires.

    • Fluorescent lamp holder assembly (10) comprising a lamp holder (15) and a socket (20). The casing may have walls and a cavity within the casing, with the cavity accessible from an exterior of the casing via an opening (7c). The cavity is configured to receive part of the power cord of the device. At least one exterior surface of the casing may be formed of an elastomeric material. A plurality of sockets (33, 35, 37) may be in an exterior wall of the casing, with each socket oriented in the wall on an angle relative to any adjacent socket.

    • A lighting apparatus and a socket for discharge lamps is provided for blocking power supply to the socket if the discharge lamp or the shield are not properly installed making it possible to use conventional discharge lamps. Socket (1) has first and second contacts (14, 16) connected to two terminals of a discharge lamp (8) and a third contact (20) which is connected to a safety-detector unit (66) by means of the shielded cable (24). The third contact (20) can be connected to the shield (22) when it is pressed by rotating a movable unit (18) together with the discharge lamp relative to a socket housing (10). Two terminals (68, 70) of the safety-detector unit are short circuited only when the discharge lamp (8) and the shield (22) are properly installed, thus allowing supply of electrical energy from the power-supply unit (60).
